    2023 40th anniversary 4Runner
    Hi,
I'm from NorthEast PA and just purchase a 2023 40th edition 4Runner SR5, or at least I think its an SR5. No manual and the sales guy said its between an SR5 and a Limited. I have been buying 4Runners since 1984 when they first came out. This is my 6th one. Anyway, I have one question if anyone knows this answer. I understand that there were only 4,040 40th edition 4Runners made. Is there anyway perhaps by the VIN number I could tell what number of the 4,040 mine is? Thinking if I had one of the first 10, it could be worth more than I paid for it. Thanks in advance.

    Welcome.
The anniversary edition 4Runners won't appreciate in value. All 4Runners have good resale value but will be depreciating assets. TRD Pro models in specific colors with low mileage and no accidents will hold their value the best, for example; a 2019 TRD Pro in Voodoo Blue with 10k miles will hold its value better than a 2022 Lime Rush TRD Pro with 10k miles. Even though the 2022 is newer and has more features, the 2019 with lack of features and Voodoo color is more sought after.

    Oooh look, another mod.....

Welcome aboard. I'm a fellow 40th owner too. I've been told that our trim level is just a gussied up SR5 Premium, because we have a sunroof, heated seats and a fake leather. Plus we have the retro stripe and bronze badging & stitching.

Oh, the 4040 badge is on all of them, and yes, there were only 4,040 total made. I'm not sure how to find out where yours ranks in the assembly line, but your model is rarer than the PRO model's. Don't expect it to appreciate in value at all, but it might (maybe?) hold it's value better than other trim levels, due to the rarity that it carries.
