5th Gen - OME 3" Lift Questions

Just purchased a '23 Lunar Rock ORP for the wife, and looking into doing a lift, wheels and tires.

Rough Plan as of now:
- 3" Lift (Brand TBD) + UCA's
- 40th Anniversary wheels
- 285/70/17

My perception from my past Toyota experience is OME is typically fairly popular & a good quality option which gives me some bias to go that route.

I've been looking at the same 3" lift options from OME at a few vendors sites.

Mudify & Slee state 3", while MetalTech4x4 states 2.5-3" and YotaMafia says 2" with the same coils.

The more I research, the less clear I'm on the front end lift amount:

• Front springs; All appear to include the 2884 front coils, while Mudify & Slee claim 3", YotaMafia claims 2". When you search for just the 2884 spring on Mudify's site, they say it only provides 1.9" of lift (For Toyota 4Runner 2003-2010 (Estimated Lift: 1.9 Inches) which aligns more with YotaMafia claim of 2".

Are the replacement struts providing any lift like a Bilstein 5100? If not, how are they claiming 3" of lift while others claim less?

It doesn't help that ARB/OME doesn't list this kit on their website anywhere to compare. I'm starting to think about scrapping this idea and looking at other options, but being a bit stubborn and want to see what's correct.

 

My vote is NO to OME nitro sports shocks. The ride is too firm to my taste.

From low budget options Bilstien 5100 are much better choice imo.

Take off TRD Pro Fox shocks at low price a good choice.

Ironman FCP are a step up from TRD Pro Fox choice when it comes to comfort.

If budget is not a problem ELKA 2.5DC are the best I've experienced. (Per the 4x4 shop more comfy than King suspension. )

Search around, there are few suspension posts members sharing thier experience/ opinion.

Edit: Different vendors recommend all sorts of spring options with the OME kit. Most of them are outside of ARB’s recommendations. Most also get the estimated lift heights wrong.

It’s very frustrating.

The OME nitrocharger shocks are stiff as is. Much worse when you select the wrong coils.

 

lol not a single one of those vendors list an option for the correct rear coils.
They all list 2889 not 2895.

I like my OME kit but the amount of misinformation from vendors is hilariously bad.

 

What front springs are you running? I had messaged 1 of the vendors above and pointed this out, their response was based on experience the 884's gave 3" of lift.

 

I run the 2885 in the front because I have a lot of added weight. I wouldn’t recommend it unless you have a full bumper/ winch and steel skids.

Beware going close to 3” on the OME shocks you may run out of shock travel. 2.5” of lift is a safer target for those shocks

2883 front
2895 rear
is what ARB recommends for stock weight.

Many people do 2884/2895. That'll work fine. Expect about 3" up front and 2.6" rear with those springs

Just stay away from 2889 rear coils. They are outside of ARB's recommendations and you'll end up with an unsightly rake.

Edit: For the love of God don't buy SPC UCA's. They're still going through some quality issues. I'd recommend Dobinsons.
