    Hi,

I went to remove the rear rotors and they wont rotote to line up the holes at 6 and 12. They move about a half an inch but not enough to line them up to remove the rotors. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Disengage your parking brake and hit them with a bigger hammer

Are both rear tires lifted off the ground when you’re trying to spin them?

What holes need to be lined up in order to remove rotors?

I’m guessing he’s trying to get the hole lined up with the star adjuster to back the shoes off the drum?

Ohhhh. Haven’t had those rotors off, but that makes sense. Forgot about the e-brake being a drum.

It’s funny, I forget little stuff like this and have to rediscover them “live” when in the middle of doing a job lol.

This is my first rear wheel drive/4wd car, and little things like removing a rear rotor take me a minute to figure out. For example, last time I removed a rear rotor and realized I had to back off the shoes, I had the same trouble figuring out why it wouldnt turn. Once I thought about it and realized I needed to raise whole rear axle to be in the air, then I remembered the front tires are free to spin, which is scary even with the front wheels chocked in both directions. So then I figured out I want to put it in 4wd (and prop 2x4 between the seat and brake pedal for good measure. After all that I remembered I have to put it into neutral

OP, nothing needs to line up to remove rotors. There are two metric threaded holes you use to jack the rotor off. The threads will be rusty so be careful not to mess up your metric bolts used for jacking.

when installing make sure to align the hole for access to star nut for e brake.
