Diff drop or no diff drop?

Installing a Eibach Pro lift next week on my 19 sr5 and I’ve been researching diff drops when lifting the front end and it seems pretty split. So as the title says, diff drop or no diff drop?

Personally I wont do a diff drop until I go long travel Dobinson IMS59-50574 in the front.
The only reason I will then is to avoid CV bind at full droop.

With regular travel shocks and less than 2.5" of lift height I don't believe it's necessary. Diff drops also reduce your ground clearance.

2.0 - 2.75" lift, correct?.

I did a 3" front, 2" rear lift
I did have a diff drop kit installed.
I've been in quite a few conversations on the topic here. I feel that if your running near a 3" lift or higher, diff drop isn't the wrong thing to do, but has positives and negatives.
1. It can very moderately improve your trucks geometry and angles
2. But, it lowers your ground clearance

Also, 2019 SR5 is a great year, and trim to build on. If I could do it over again, I've said before it'd be a 2019 sr5.

The premier Toyota shop that is in my area said they rarely do them or recommend them. Most people will not require a diff drop for most lifts.

 

Not needed if you have OEM CV axles. To improve inboard CV boot life you can stretch the boot a little and put a hose clamp around it: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/my-cv-boot-mod.190669/

I just installed the Eibach stage 1 lift this week and the cv angles don’t look bad. I’m not doing a diff drop. I also spoke with Eibach and they said not needed

Not needed on a Toyota IFS. You gain nothing and prevent nothing as is pointed out on the videos above.
