Had the dash light up MALFUNCTION transmission, then switched to see dealer.
Made an appointment but before I got there the lights went out. They said I would get charged $170 to run a scope if no current engine light was on and said to bring it right back if it did.
So two days later it does the same thing, can tell something is wrong because when I shift from Neutral to drive it slams pretty hard. I get it back to the dealer, 30 mile drive, light is still on he takes a photo of it. But from the time they take the 4R from me and to the garage supposedly the light went out. Had a history code of P2716 but since it's not current warranty wont cover it.
Sounds like a faulty pressure control solenoid. They cleared the code and told me to bring it back if it came back on but to take the aftermarket skids off, warranty doesn't cover removing those.
In two weeks I'm planning a 2500 mile trip up through the Upper Peninsula. I see that code can send the 4R into limp mode. I don't trust taking it that far and having it break down in the middle of nowhere. Hopefully it gets fixed by then or I'll be driving my truck instead and these are the kind of trips the 4R is great for, 3/4 ton truck not so much.
41,000 mi. 100,000 mi. platinum warranty.

Light come back on and transmission started doing the same thing. Got it back to the dealer and the light stayed on this time.
They got it fixed, so far. Faulty solenoid assembly. Took 4 quarts of WF transmission fluid to fill it back up after dropping pan.

I just encountered a similar scenario. As luck(?) would have it, I am due for transmission service. I’ll share the fix.

@roc , am I reading this post right that you were not charged for the solenoid replacement?

EDIT: Nevermind, I see that it was covered by warranty in your original post. Time for more coffee! LOL

Delayed update by about a week but the dealership did fix it saying that it was a loose wire. The amount of time it took them to do it did not sit well with me though….
