So i have owned my 03 2runner with a 4.7 for a few years now, love it, but south dakota winters can be rough sometimes with the 2wd. I recently bought an 05 4.0 for 700 that came into my shop and customer didnt wanna fix it(No i do not want to use this one as a daily, its a complete pile of shit inside and out and engine is leaking oil out of heads, I also like the v8 for my boat). Drive train wise, its all good enough condition. I am aware that 03-04 v6 came with a different 4x4 trans, and the v8s had the a750f, from 05 up the v6s started getting a750f. So I am boldly gonna attempt the conversion, I think drivetrain wise the swap should be easy considering i will be in a shop on a lift with plenty of tools. Main concern is electrical shit, since I now have a complete parts car, Ill be able to swap the 4wd ecu and harness over as well, even the 4wd switch(which will be nice to switch to 2wd since v8s normally dont have 2wd option) and even the cluster too for the 4wd lights. My main question is pretty much just if anyone has done this before? I have seen in a different forum about a year ago someone managed to do it in their drive way and wrote a thread about it, I saved the link and its no longer available, only thing they did differently was build their own manual 4x4 shifter, but he managed to do it and didnt seem to have much issues, i also do not remember what he did about transfercase mounts, I havent had a chance to get underneath them to really plan out the swap yet. Any and all input is appreciated.

I’m looking forward to following along. I’ve thought about doing something similar with mine.

Fs i will take photos and keep it updated, definitely only able to do this because of the lucky buy. This will be way cheaper than what it will cost if you try to find all individual parts. heads up it may be a couple weekends I'm pretty busy
