    Hi.
I was curious if there was a way to make the pillar lights just turn & brake only? I would prefer to not have them on as rear lights. I've been told by several people that my brake lights are difficult to see, so they just look for my 3rd brake light. Was hoping the pillar lights would help with this.

    Thanks!

Why are your tail lights hard to see? OEM 4Runner tail lights are very bright and easily seen if they are not modified or tinted.

They are not OEM. They are the Alpha Rex. They go fro. 70% brightness tail to 100% brightness brake. The pillars go from 80% to 100%, so not too much difference.

I personally find the Alpharex to not be a safe aftermarket option. From behind, they are very hard to see compared to OEM or other aftermarket options. Switching to OEM or other aftermarket option would be a safe bet and limit liability to you and other drivers.

Can you help me out with what pillar lights are? Do you have a link?

Depending on how the pillar lights are wired will determine how they are activated. You'd have to find out how those lights are triggered to determine how to disable the running light.

Ultimately, the unfun answer is to ditch the Alpharex, and go back to stock. The Morimoto tails are also on par with OEM.
