I was curious to see how others ran the wires from their roof rack lights into the cab or engine compartment. I want to put some lights on my roof rack but want to be careful about my wire runs as I don’t want any leaks. Thanks!

On my FJ I was able to go from the engine compartment up between the fender and the cowl, then used double stick tape and wire loom to run straight up along the edge of the windshield. Looked very clean, no penetrations. I bet it would be easier on the 4runner.Screenshot_20231216-224348~2.png

Wire hider from the roof, down the windshield into the engine compartment. Easy to cut the plastic shroud into the engine compartment below the glass. When installed you can't even really see it.

KC has their brand, as I'm sure some universal/generic on sold on Amazon.

Been running the KC version for a few years, works great. Actually forgot it was there until this thread.

Disregard the blue tape, just had my windshield replaced due to a big ass rock.

Bringing up the most recent n relevant thread I could find…

so I am currently routing my wiring for everything n one area, the roof front, light bar n pod on both sides of lightbar

    questions:

I have to replace windshield…if I run the wiring down or under the windshield channel, or even the Kc wire hider, does this wiring have to be removed for the windshield to be replaced?

does anyone have experience removing the windshield channel trim?

wondering if it’s the kinda thing where it’d be better to wait till the windshield is replaced or even WHILE it’s being replaced to sneak wires under n up

I had my windshield replaced while I had the KC wire hider. The windshield shop pulled the wires out of the wire hider, peeled the wire hider off, replaced the windshield, reattached the wire hider with new double sided tape that I provided and put the wires back in the wire hider. Easy day.

    Hey @wafersmith
    Good question
100%, @PVT Pablo is a smart man. Invest in KC Wire Hiders. I recently installed dual sides of the windshield and back to my 3/4 rack. Took four 3' length hiders to keep wires protected the entire distance. Paid shipping from US :notsure: had to be done
Also bought a similar product, with a rounded top, off Amazon. Haven't used it tho
