Just my opinion, as others will disagree.

All a Pedal Commander or similar device does, is change the amount of voltage your throttle pedal input sends to the throttle body via throttle by wire. It is not a performance booster but will change throttle pedal position signals. Pushing the pedal down further will get the same result at no cost.

The 4.0l 4Runner motor has been tuned quite a bit from Toyota to safely achieve maximum performance while retaining somewhat decent fuel economy. You can run a different tune for higher octane but the difference will be minimal vs cost. Your largest power gains will come from forced induction options, which again are cost-prohibitive.

The question will be, what is your ultimate objective or result that you're trying to achieve?

Agree whole heartedly, just like to see others opinion. I'm old and in no hurry anymore, life goes by fast enough. My little Slug moves me just fine.

The 4Runner is easily the quickest and thirstiest daily I’ve had so I’m sitting pretty how it is right now.
