Then again we did not buy the 4 Runner for the gas mileage. I could have bought a Prius if I wanted better mileage.

Absolutely. The Taco I drove before it got a whopping 18 no matter what. On long distance road trips we can take the wifes Honda if we are worried about the gas cost.

You can have both. I do :D
Prius for good weather/road trips. 4Runner for everything else.

Also, don't forget that if you are running larger diameter tires, the calculated gas mileage (and the odometer distance) will be somewhat lower. The truck travels further than it thinks it has gone.

My 2023 supercharged 4Runner with 285 tires gets 15 mpg on the highway at 75 mph and 14 at 80-82. I see about 17 mpg on country roads going 62.

I get 18.5-19.2 mpg in mixed driving, speeds up to 75 mph. Stock except for Load-E Wildpeaks. Mileage fell to ~17 crossing mountains or driving at higher speeds in the Midwest and Southwest.

Interesting. My city MPG is high 15s.. may be a bit better in summer when I don’t have to remote start it etc. all vehicles are worse on fuel this time of the year. I only got the 4Runner in early August..

    Highway I may see 18-19.

I feel like the ones that claim high MPG with mixed are just lying to themselves. I baby the pedal on mine.

If I can see 300 miles per tank I’m good.

Just an observation on my 2010 Limited. The first 100k I got a consistent 21 mpg, 80% highway,20% city.
At 125k I changed the plugs.
Now with 206k miles it gets an average of 20 mpg.
No mods or aftermarket stuff and standard 20" tires.
    Always 87 octane fuel.

It is noticeable that it does not have the power it once had, as in towing a 2500 lb boat on an 800 lb trailer up and down hills here in MT. Thus the reason I'm taking delivery of a 2024 4 runner on April 9th
