I recently picked up an 06 4runner V8 sports edition but didn’t see any dial for the 4WD feature by the steering wheel. Does this mean that my v8 is a 2WD? I keep reading that all of the v8’s are AWD. Can someone confirm or deny that this is the case for the V8’s? I’m confused

    Oooh look, another mod.....

All 4th Gen 4Runners with a V8 are full time 4WD, it doesn't matter if it's a Limited, SR5 or Sport Edition, they're all full time 4WD. All 4Th Gen 4runners with a V6 are part time 4WD, you can either drive it in 2WD or 4WD, it doesn't matter if it's a Limited, SR5 or Sport Edition, they're all par time 4WD.

V8 2WD 4Runners exist: If it's AWD, there should still be a dial to toggle between 4H and 4L. Look underneath. Do you see CV axles going to the front wheels?

But mine doesn’t have the dial for AWD. Doesn’t that mean that I don’t have that feature? I’m confused

^If you don't have this dial, you have a 2WD model:

All 4WD T4Rs with a V8 are full time 4WD....BUT sorry to say your 4th Gen V8 is 2WD ONLY.

The shocks will have hoses connected to them, that connect the shock diagonally to the opposite shock front to back, i.e. left front to right rear, right front to left rear.

This is true....UNLESS the 4th Gen T4R with a V8 is 2WD only, and it doesn't matter if it's a Limited, SR5 or Sport Edition, and yes they do exist....I own one!

This is (obviously) true of 4WD V6 models only. There are 4th Gen V6 2WD 4Runners.
