Roof light bar recommendations

I have a 2023 stock SR5. Not interested in going too crazy with the mods, but I would like to install a light bar on the roof above the windshield. My preference is to avoid adding a full roof rack simply to accommodate a light bar.

A local installer warned me that (1) some LED options are cheap and the lights won't last; (2) units mounted towards the front of the vehicle tend to be noisy.

Looking for installation options. Pictures would be appreciated.

I think you should ask your self first if you really NEED it. Then ask if you really need it on the roof.

There are other places to mount.

If you want to avoid a full roof rack, then ur talking about 3/4 (such as mine), or a half rack. Both of those options the wind fairing is set back more over top of the sunroof- a lightbar up there will reflect too much off the truck. Probably need the full rack, to attach a bar ideally at top of windshield.

I have some led pods on the rack, and other stuff, there's all sorts of noises I'll admit, but it goes nicely with the wide stance tire noise!


Diode Dynamics are top notch for sure.
Caliraised is a quality, slightly less expensive well known brand I'd recommend. My lights are just from Canadian auto parts dealers.
I opted to put a 14" lightbar behind grille, and bought nice black aluminum grille mesh I'm installing over top from the front.
...do you have a plan get a wire on the roof?

 

I chose grille instead, good location for light beam performance

 

I will also agree with other posters and vote for a grille mounted option. Roof lights look badass, but you're pretty much forced to get a very focused spot, or a shroud to limit all the hood glare.

That's coming from a guy with roof lights.

It was listed for $1799 but I got it with 20% off. They do discounts for all the big holidays. I installed it solo in about four hours. It was pretty easy. I'm super happy with it.

+1 for a bumper integrated light bar. The C4 low pro has provisions for a winch and a 30" light bar.
Admittedly the winch was my priority. I went with the ExtremeLED dual function light bar just to fill the gap that would otherwise be there.
I will say, the light bar is much more useful than I originally thought it would be.

The downside is you lose your crash structure with a steel bumper. My buddy who works at a body shop refers to them as "frame killers."
If you're a careful driver and want to get a winch eventually, this is a great setup. Otherwise, just get a Sherpa rack with an integrated light bar.

 

Personally I like Blue lights, LED or strobe.

 

I purchased a low profile 38" LED light bar on Amazon. I wanted it below my roof rack and options for white light only, amber only, white & amber combo, and strobing.
