    Hi there,
I have looked through past threads and wasn't able to find this issue being addressed anywhere. Has anyone out there had this issue....
After disconnecting the battery for a long period of time to change out multiple sensors, I hooked the battery back up started it up; runs fine for 3-4 seconds (no CEL), dies, then I started it up again, runs fine but the CEL comes back on. I have repeated this process many times now after replacing 02 sensors, VVT sensors, spark plugs, fuel injectors, and everytime it does the same thing. Starts (no CEL), dies, starts again (runs fine) but CEL comes on. Battery is from 12/22 i wouldn't think its a battery issue but im getting down to the bottom of the list for usual culprits.
    Thanks in advance.

    Mike

You shouldn't be throwing parts at it before diagnosing. What is the stored code?

Sounds like a fuel issue though.

Check battery voltage engine/ign off and if you can while the engine is running, an extremely low voltage will stop an engine. Just because your battery may seem to still have service life base on date doesn't mean it's still viable. Sulfating plates (from overcharging) depletes its capacity while it may not physically appear to be in bad condition. Check the electrolyte solution with a hydrometer.

Since your ignition circuit appears to be functioning, another potential culprit for the engine quitting (it is just stopping cold or is it stalling out?) is whether your fuel pump is functioning properly (or there's a possible clog somewhere, maybe there's a leak in the fuel line(s) somewhere.

Thanks for the reply’s. This is from an earlier post that was more on the codes i was getting and not battery specific.

“It started with a drop in fuel efficiency. I decided to change my plugs. Got to my #4 cylinder plug and it was of oil… got a valve cover gasket kit and replaced that. Started it up and was running fine but now I have a CEL and traction control light. Pulled codes and this is what I have (truck is starting and running well, gas mileage is still low and feels sluggish on acceleration).
    Codes:
    P0390 stored
    P0390 permanent
    P0390 pending
    P0348 permanent
    P0345 permanent
    P0102 permanent
Currently I have replaced with oem sensors:
Cam position sensors a and b on bank 2
    MAF sensor
Both vvt solenoid on bank 2

so I have been slowly diagnosing and replacing but these are the same codes I’m getting even after replacing the correlating sensors. Next is the fuel pressure regulator incase there is a tear in the diaphragm. I will investigate the fuel pump tomorrow. Any other thoughts or similar experiences out there?

That's all timing. I would check timing in case it the chain jumped a tooth somewhere.

I would stop buying parts and diagnose the problem. You can check full pressure instead of just replacing the regulator.
