Hey all, so excited to be joining the club! I am coming from a GMC which I have always driven but very excited to make the change.
However, I am having a hard time deciding between a used Pro or a new Off Road. They’re basically the same price, the Off Road has KDSS, upgraded wheels & tires & I would put running boards on it. It is also blue which I’m very partial to. I really want it to be blue especially if I am spending so much money on it.
The used Pro is grey which is my second choice color, has only 20.6k miles, has some scratches on it & the predator running boards which I would also want to upgrade. I would also be looking to wrap it most likely in a nice blue color. I am also thinking of upgrading the Off Road a bit by giving it a bit of lift but not a huge one as it still has to fit in my garage + ski rack. I would see what a place could do for me within my budget.
I would be using it off roading in the summer time a fair amount (2-4x monthly minimum) but she would mostly live in the city, with mountain trips on the weekends during winter.
Ultimate goal is to eventually swap one in for a nice, new gen pro once they have proven to be reliable (years down the line when they have better gas mileage etc) but I am pretty torn, honestly.
Ultimately, they will be selling both of them ASAP & they were willing to do some discounts on the used pro to make it more affordable. I need some guidance & would love to hear for you all. I live in Colorado where the off roading part is important to get to the best camp spots & trailheads. Thanks!

The Off Road. Full warranty and you're missing out who knows what happened in those 20k miles. Plus saving the money you'd dump into a blue wrap

Welcome. Get the new 2024. Only reason for the Pro, would be if you needed a specific color like Cavalry blue, Inferno, Quicksand, or Voodoo Blue.

I would (and did) get the ORP. However I wouldn’t get a color I don’t like.

I find the blue to go amazingly well with the silver Valances, stock wheels, and silver badging of the ORP.

    What is your favorite color?

SR5 Premium, modify it and it will have the Pro for a snack.

I went with a TRD Offroad Premium with KDSS though.

100% agree, I love the Voodoo Blue color and have been keeping my eye out. Couldn’t believe that out of the four I found, all had prior CarFax accident reports. One had already been in two separate accidents.

The wife drives a Pro, I drive the ORP that she swapped out for the Pro.

We had the suspension on the ORP swapped a TRD Pro fox setup. Now everyone will say how much it sucks and how it was not a good idea and all kinds of nonsense. It’s what she wanted.

Later she wanted the Solor Octane and the better sound system, so we found one and purchased it. I got the old 4Runner.

I’d be hard pressed to find a major difference between the 2, especially as they have the same ride quality. But the Audio in the ORP is shockingly bad. I will get an OEM audio setup eventually, but that’s not cheap.

Get what you like best. You have to drive it, I prefer the ORP because I am not a fan of the exhaust on the Pro. The only other major difference, as far as I’m aware aside from cosmetic details.

At 20000, provided it’s not been run hard in Moab, over all the passes in Co, run the washboards in the desert, it should be in great shape. I don’t do those things, nor does the wife, so buying one of our used 4Runners is like buying a well maintained slightly used vehicle. Not everyone is good about regular maintenance, but you’ve got a record.

Get what you want, you’ll not regret the decision that’s right for you.

Get the ORP with KDSS. The new car market has softened up dramatically from 6-8 months ago. Just bought a 2024 ORP w/KDSS in Underground color and got 5% off MSRP. Welcome to the forum!

So you aren't committing to this vehicle. Find a used OR at a lower price and drive it for a few years until the 6th gen reaches a level of maturity.

Go Off-Road KDSS! New, Blue. I Love that Blue. Dealership gave me free oil changes for the life of the car and extended the warranty when I bought my 2018 Off-road. It wa my first NEW rig. It’s worth it
