Hey all! I am new to the 4Runner community but my 2023 SR5 is having a rattling on the front passenger side. I took it into the dealer but they were unable to replicate it but thought it might be the blower motor. They cleaned out the blower motor but the rattling is still happening even with the fan off. The rattling primarily happens when stopped at lights or stopped in traffic. Attached is a link to a video I’ve taken of the sound. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

(if this needs to be in a different forum or anything let me know)

That sounds like static coming through the speaker. I would get down there close and see if that's where it's coming from. Could be an intermittent grounding problem.

Not extremely knowledgeable on the subject but would the sound go away if the volume was off? Video might not do the rattling justice. I can look into if it’s a grounding issue for sure though thank you!

Have somebody outside hold down the plastic trim piece at the bottom of the windshield and see if it stops. Yours is worse than mine at idle but after using the search function I found that to be a common cause and its what I'm getting. Rinsing and blowing it out fixes short term until it gets dirty again, havent figured out a long term fix

There was a few leaves but got them cleaned out and didn’t fix the problem unfortunately.

Maybe not exactly what you're getting, but I had a rattle like that so I had my son listen around that area to locate it. Turns out it was coming from the bottom side of the blower motor assembly. I think it was coming from a wire harness that runs next to it, vibrating against it, but not 100% positive. If he pushed on the blower motor assembly, it would stop. I flexed the wire harness away a bit and wiggled the motor assy and haven't heard it (that I know of) for a while.

Remove the panel above the passenger footwell and have someone listen and see if it's coming from there. If so, wiggle, move, etc the blower motor assy or wires around it and see if that makes the noise stop.
