Anyone know what pod lights these are???

Hey 4R family!

Does anyone out there know which pod lights/ ditch lights this 4R is running? Been trying to figure it out forever! Lol thanks everyone!!!

 

The brand/manufacturer doesn't really matter. All pod lights/ditch lights are the same.

 

Well I’m currently running Lasfits, they’re ok. I just personal like the styling of these much more and wanted to switch them out. But Ty

 

I'm not sure I would be putting some stupid expensive Rigid lights up there. Seems an easy target for thievery. I would probably opt for some less expensive ScAmazon Chineseiums. But, that's just me. They might all be Chineseium anyway?

 

Rigids were my first thought based upon the size (and possible lettering count) of the logo.

I’m wondering if these aren’t actually ‘ditch’ lights but repurposed fogs ?

 

Yea I’m thinking the same I’m trying to compare the number of bolts etc lol

Ss5 are very close but I couldn’t find any to match those bottom letters with, maybe an older gen of those light?

 

These are definitely not SS5s. I have the combo edition which are the dual (Driving and Flood) light pattern. There's no center 'dead' spot as in the OP's photo. None of the light pattern bezels for the SS5 line has this 'dark' center spot.

 

Ah very true, did the ss5 ever come any other way? Like older generations?

 

Diode Dynamics first introduced the SS5 around 2021 and I'm not certain they ever produced any other bezel type other than the 'optics' designs that you see in my pic. The vertical (center row) element is the 'Driving' (long distance) lens element while the diamond pattern is the flood (diffused) pattern, the spot pattern is virtually a clear bezel.

Ebay i guess. 5" Laser pods.

But i wouldn't touch them with a 10ft pole.

There are major differences.

 

I guess that depends if you're looking for functionality, or just want some jewelry on your hood.

Performance, output, and housing quality; yes much better with company's like made in America Lasfit.
But I don't believe eBay, and North American manufacturers with Chinese chipsets and or packaging are necessarily unreliable.

 

Man's gotta point, it's one of the reason I don't run exterior Diode Dynamics or KCs or Baja Designs or what have you. Don't see too many "locks" for them.
And their pricing is bonkers imo

 

Who said that cheapies were unreliable?

I thought Rigid's prices were ridiculous until I started comparing specs.

 

I was hesitant to spend the money, but they were recommended by a trusted member of Tacomaworld. After 4 years and ~80,000 miles, I'd buy them again in a heartbeat.

 

Diode Dynamics SS3 Pro fogs are fantastic. Plug and play. People also like the SS3 Max’s.

You're not wrong. But, I bought mine for function. I wasn't even considering ditch lights until I found myself hitting trails all day and into dark. I don't use them all the time, but I love having them on the occasions I do.

 

Back when we started "overlanding" in the 70s, in our 73 Bronco, my brother and I were the ditch lights. My dad would make us get out and walk with flashlights to make sure he wasn't going to bend something. Good times.

 

Can we ease up on the racist terms? There are Asian people on this forum too.
