What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

Just did the Meso Hatch lights and wow what a difference, also that's the easiest install on anything I've done yet to the 4Runner.

What did you do to your 4runner today?

 

Put a tray in the center console. Velcro plastic mats on the back of the back seats. Replaced plastic tire valve covers with metal ones. Which I quite like a lot. Makes them much easier to grip.

 

I like the looks and options that metal valve stem caps offer but you may want to be careful about galvanic corrosion issues that may pop up if using 2 dissimilar metals. Ask an experienced tire shop and they’ll probably have stories of seized caps.

Excellent point and I’d like to add that galvanic corrosion of dissimilar metal alloys generally requires a catalyst in the form of an electrolyte (hint: think road salt or marine environment). A good way to mitigate this (reaction) is to have at least one of the metal alloys in contact to be zinc plated. A simpler means is to use Corrosion-X as a surface treatment/sealer on the valve stem/valve cap threads.

Not my first choice for design options, but there are a couple metal caps with a plastic liner. That's what I'm running now. They have an American Flag on them.

 

i did with mine 3-4 times and what b@tch that was but the cut came out great.

 

A dab of anti-seize on the valve stem threads (or inside your metal caps) and you'll be fine...

Installed the 4TPAM today. It was the largest mod today. Also installed a bunch of MESO/LED lights on the rig. Ordered a Prinsu Pro Rack and Truck Vault, as well as RCI sliders. Also picked up a bunch of products from Blaze Offroad as he did all my wiring and lights on my Taco. Garmin Powerswitch for my Baja ditch lights, ARB twin, Baja 40" light bar. Coming alone nice.

 

Well, technically I didn't "do" anything to my 4Runner, but I did have a near-miss while driving home tonight. Thank God I have a dashcam. No contact was made (laying on the horn helped freak the guy out enough to swerve back into his fucking lane), but if it would have happened, the 4k video helps prove who is at fault.

I am considering a Thinkware dashcam, but the quality on this looks pretty good too. Looks like it's only for 2020+ models though

 

Yeah, that is very misleading, because I have a 2023 Runner and it fits/works just fine. It took me longer to get it out of the box than it did to install.

Went out for Vday card & parked in garage @ 1500 miles since 2-Nov-23!!

 

Installed some KC Cyclones for the rear hatch. I can finally see everything at night...sheesh.

Today (and yesterday) neglected the 4Runner so that I could pamper My Life's [sic] Audi S5 for Valentine's Day.



I'm only willing to do it once a year as I find watching paint dry more enjoyable.

 

Tonight I'm completing installation of the second roof rack inset scene light, mounted w/ custom galvanized steel flat bar.
Then installing new amber ditch light pods on new Rago Fabrication extension brackets, to relocate spot beam away from hood reflections.
