Good eye! Yeah that's someone's house/property in the distance.

…and at least one or two that got zapped in the X-ray screening stations at the airport.

I remember my dad having his 8mm kit on family vacations, we must have at least several dozen of those 3” reels packed away in the garage!

I remember before kids, my wife and I priced real estate (homes) in Montana. Late 80s-ish. Oh my gosh. A large, 2-bedroom with loft, 5-year-old log home on 20 acres was $79k. Another home, 3 stories, 3-4 bedrooms, 2500 square feet, $54k. We REALLY wanted to move out there. Beautiful country.

If love to pack up and move to Utah, my favorite state, I'd even settle for Tennessee closer to the smokies love them to.. moving is just to expensive these days, only getting worse

I’m missing my 3rd gen, took the family not quite as big as a trip as you have but equally as much fun for the kids laying out in the back…just as my sisters and me did in the back of my parents Pontiac station wagon. Good memories!

Went for a casual drive up to Winter Park yesterday. My favorite part about living out west. The views, exploring new mountain towns and hiking/photography.

Had a similar experience around 91 while driving through Jackson Hole en route up to Jellystone! Saw a real estate ad in the local paper while having breakfast, a ranch of similar stats just to the east for about $120k…was really tempted to sell out little 1br in the Bay Area and have enough left over to fund the kid’s college fund.

My boys during the drive? Video games a good bit of the time :-D I tried to get them to watch the scenery, but knowing this may be our only such trip, determined not to ruin it for them by being 'that dad'.

sigh, kids these days are missing out in “find signs that begin with…”, find landmarks you see on a map…

But as long as you have power for their phone’s video games why not! :D

Yeah, I'm worried about the video game stuff, I'm big into hiking, camping, kayaking, mtb, so I have "EVERY INTENTION", to get them outside growing up, but we've all seen the direction the world is going unfortunately

On that trip, we did at least all get to see a wolf for the first and only time, in Yellowstone. Light was failing, and it was gnawing on a leg of some kind, so I didn't get a really good pic.

And when you posted this, I asked myself, which came first? This or the flash cube? I don’t remember.

Probably right. The flash bar would be considered a step up with 10 flashes vs 4.

I was only a kid when I first encountered a "flash cube." My aunt had a nice Kodak camera when I was a wee lad, and I remember it had a flash cube on it. Lord, those were the days.
