When taking off the harness the plastic screw hold broke off. Now I was thinking of using strap ties but worry the heat from the valve cover will melt. Any ideas on what is a good way to repair?

You should be able to find similar replacement at an auto part store, the valve cover doesn't get hot enough to melt most plastic type wire retainers.

With the limited movement of that harness assembly, Even if you do not find anything at the parts depot, You should be ok.
