I’m on my second Pedal Commander unit and having the same issue.

I’ve followed the instructions of leaving the door open and key fob at least 35 feet from vehicle.

When I hook up the harnesses and start the vehicle, the orange speed mode lights cycle through in a series a couple of times and then nothing.

    Thoughts, ideas?

No help from me, but I have a feeling that it could be a warning that your 4Runner is trying to tell you not to mess with factory setup that is build to last long, not to install these $#!^ boxes.

I've put these devices on my taco and 4r. The trick is to let dash completely turn off and goes into sleep mode . Not just 35 mins. My taco would take like 40 or 45.

Removing battery terminal gets same effect quicker. That's what i did on my 4R. But i was installing the new radio at the time anyways so didnt care about it resetting everything .

OK, I figured it out. I didn’t pair it to the app. Once I did that, the manual functions worked on the unit. Duh.

My runner had been off for 4 hours......opened the door and installed the commander without waiting 15 minutes.....(installation vids I had seen didn't inform on that...) Drove good, no weird lights...Reckon I'm OK?

I must've missed that part when I installed mine. I've had mine for several weeks now, no issues with the installation, no funny lights on the dash, have it set to Sport 2. Works as advertised as far as better throttle response, and I can tell the difference between City 1 and Sport 2, so the box is working its magic.
