Hi, please advise: 1999 2WD LTD. Have done 154,000 miles. Am going to have alignment done.
As you know allowable alignment parameters for camber, caster, toe, and thrust angle(tracking) are determined by vehicle make, model, trim, and tire size. Since the vehicle VIN will be available is it correct to take that the corresponding alignment allowable parameters will be available, and the alignment machine would output values showing within limits or outside limits? This, in turn, will indicate if any changes are needed to bring each parameter to within acceptable values.
The vehicle has not had any height changes made.
    Thanks very much!

How is the suspension currently? If it is worn out i would wait until you upgrade unless you have a problem you didn’t mention.

Yes, the alignment shop should be able to use your VIN to do a FACTORY alignment. If anything has been changed (wheels, height, etc), they should be able to adjust to it but it may require a test drive and a return trip.

My advice is to always get the lifetime alignment. Whenever I get tires on my cars, I get the alignment done and it's no extra cost. Usually 2 alignments pay for the lifetime policy.

negusm thanks! I have one more question. My 1999 4runner 2WD LTD 3RD GEN has a single-piece drive or propeller shaft. On one end is a slip joint and a cardon-joint which connect with the transmission. The other end has a cardon joint which connects with the differential.
    1. There are no zerk fittings at all in the extremes indicated above. Is this because all items that would require grease lubrication are provided with sealed lubrication?
    2. In 25 years the drive shaft has not had any maintenance done, and touch wood, has not given any problem.
    3. There was a reference made somewhere that the slip joint has splines. These splines are submerged in transmission oil. Have you experienced this? I just think that the transmission oil could not be sealed by the splines, assuming that there are some splines. Splines, bathed in transmission oil, helping in torque transmission alongside sealing. Seems difficult!!!
    4. The owner's manual specifies grease lubrication for the U-joints, slide yoke, and double cardan joint?? Several things are not adding up. I wonder if your experience could clarify this jumble.
    Thank you.

#3. Slip joints have splines, these splines are NOT submerged in trans. fluid. Have you tried the "search" box in the upper right corner of the forum? Tons of info there for everything you could think of.
