Diff Breather Options Other Than ARB??

Anyone make their own diff breather extension? All you need is some hose and a check valve right? Not sure why I should buy the ARB kit when I can make one for less than 5 dollars...

Am I missing something

Just run a hose with the same type of cap Toyota uses at the end. The ARB is just bling.

 

The barb fitting that threads into the axle is British pipe thread, so it's best to use the Toyota P/N fitting, which is a bit more than 5 dollars. You're free to piece together the rest yourself. Don't even need a check valve. I made a loop with about 12" of hose and ziptied it to the fuel filler pipe running up inside the quarter panel: https://www.4runners.com/posts/497985

as I had used his method on my 2013 Tacoma. It's been a few years, so I'm not sure if he's still on the forum.

If nothing else, he has great photos of the items in his kit if you wanted to reproduce it...

 

Looks like I can make it myself for 10-15 or pay the convenience fee of ordering it from the yotashop.
