I think you're right. On the contrary, I've read others here in other threads bring up the point that if you have sliders bolted or welded to your frame, it could increase the possibility of your 4R rolling over in the event of an accident like a T-bone (especially with lifted 4R's).

 

Thanks. I followed the YouTube video that the seller provided in the shipment. Used a few drops of dish soap and water in a spray bottle. You can easily move the decal around to position it as best you can while it’s wet, before squeegeeing the decal. Take your time, you should be fine.

 

Ordered Dr. KDSS billet clamps(front and rear), and some more skid plates for KDSS and lower links

I got married early. Kids grown up now. Living my life, and no divorce lol

 

for the sake of clarification...she did not say no, but rather she would prefer the steps. I dont do a ton of offroading anymore because I got tired of repairing shit I would break. So I really dont care either way, if it makes her happy and makes her want to ride in the 4runner so be it. I dont have a lift or skids on this one either, she is primarily a pavement princess with weekend visits to the mountains.

I've been busy this past week installing stuff and I think I'm just about done setting up this new 4Runner, LFD Crossbar kit, TRD Skid plate(not OEM) for KDSS, Solidify 3D storage doors, Husky liners, & Desert Does it seat jackers and mount panel. Ordered the Meso hatch lights and that should be it for a while!

 

You're gonna love the hatch lights. Just installed mine today, quality is amazing.

Ah yes...actually found a little QR code in the tube. Wet install for sure, should be easy. I have done the same on bike frame protection which is smaller and harder.

Runner is t the spa now getting buffed and ceramic coat.

Installed the Meso Customs hatch lights. Kit was easy to install and I like that they utilize the body of the original unit. Fit and finish is nice. They are bright. I like the red light option, although I'm not sure when I'd use it. But I do use the red light on my headlamps now and then when camping.

I'm not a fan of the exposed mulitple LED look but I wanted something brighter for when I load the dogs up after walking at night and for packing up when coming back from backpacking late at night.

 

Could the LEDs potentially get broken if something in the back slid into them? No cover? I was gonna get some but I always have stuff sliding around back there and with my luck I’d spend 70 bucks and have a toolbox hit one the next week.

 

Finally 12v tested my F1 Smoked Chase Light, mounting to 4Runner rear roof rack, for use on dusty trails and such.

Drilling rack and bolting on as we speak. Using rubber washers cut to size between the plastic and metal. Used my children's Play-Doh to transfer the mounting bolt pattern.

Made a bracket for the battery disconnect to the winch and diff breather.

 

Got a chance to install the Diode Dynamics Interior lights and a Garmin Mini Dash Cam II with the Dongar Power Solution. It took longer than I car to admit though.

 

In your particular case, I'd recommend just upgrading to LED bulbs for the hatch lights. The OEM housings offer a lot more protection for the light source than the MESO units do. The hatch light LED bulbs I got from Cali Raised have 12 chips in them, so they're pretty bright. They were part of the interior LED bulb kit they offer, well worth the money.

 

I'll be installing my Meso hatch lights tonight. I haven't conisdered this.

But if they die, they die.

 

I'm not sure how tough they are, but I could see them getting broken by something sliding into them. There is a raised "grid" that I can see offering marginal protection, but not against anything very large.

 

Yeah they really should have a diffuser plate or at least a plastic cover on the outside
