I had it on this morning for some light condensation just because and it didn’t crack my windshield.

 

Again, feel free to do whatever. Make sure your insurance has adequate glass coverage, or have $1-1.4k set aside for windshield replacement and TSS calibration.

 

Agreed. I use it all the time too, including days in the past week where temps were near zero and the windshield was covered with snow and ice.

 

I don’t know what the statistics are for Toyota windshield failures, but you can search the forums and see that it does sometimes happen at the windshield heating element. Often when there is a pre-existing flaw like a small rock chip at or near the heating grid.

 

Compromised glass will always break eventually. So that’s understandable. What’s not is the guy saying the design is flawed and therefore not to use it. I really don’t like the scare tactic mentality to other forum members to not use a feature as designed. Absolutely if your glass is compromised you should always repair it for safety reasons apart from the heater element.

 

I do but it’s not bc of a well designed feature from Toyota.

Same. I would kill for parking sensors on my limited. I really miss those from the Ford trucks I drove before.

 

Yes! It's great for when you have the rear hatch open and are doing shit outside. I think it activates the speakers in the rear hatch, or enhances them or something. I like it for when you finish with a long hike or mountain bike ride, sit down in a chair, pop a cold one, listen to some Carpenters at high volume.

 

I want to add my toaster with dash switch in my 4R as well. I like it set low on 1 or 2 personally

If it cracked, you likely had a chip or something to cause the crack. I have had no issues with mine, nor did I experience this with my Subaru that had the heated windshield. And I have used it as extreme temps.

 

I will have to give that a try.

 

It's very easy to pick up rock chips on the windshield (drive up to Ft McMurray if you want to accelerate the process ). You can have a multitude of small rock chips that wouldn't spread for many years, then using the wiper heater causes cracking.

 

What is the RSCA button and that dial button on the bottom left off your image? I have 2016 Limited and never seen either.

The RSCA button is to turn off the Roll Sensing of Side Curtain Airbags. The dial is a REDARC trailer brake controller. Best I've ever used, and highly recommend.

 

All vehicles come with an owners manual, unless you purchase it used and it may not have one. The manual will have a plethora of information.
