Been lurking around the forum for a few days, but since I am now officially a 4Runner owner, figured I sign up for an account since I am sure I will be wearing out the search button.

Long story short, one of my coworkers (and pretty much best friend for about 15 years) purchased a new car and since I had called dibs on his 4Runner since forever I purchased the car from him. It will be a project car that is for sure, since I already have two other cars that are my and my wife's daily drivers.

Car is a 2004 4Runner, V6, 2WD with a whopping 178,000 miles on the ODO. One owner as my fried purchased it brand new, so I am officially the second owner and it has spent all of its life in north Texas (DFW area). All regular maintenance was performed but the car is not without its faults that need addressing.

    • Power steering pump is making a whining noise, so that will have to be replaced.
    • Fuel gauge shows 3/4 full when the tank is full... have not researched this at all yet, but if its the sending unit I sure hope there is access from inside the care to take care of it.
    • Rare Cylinder 6 (driver side closes to firewall) misfire. By rare I mean it happens once in a blue moon and only for about 30-60 seconds post crank. Spark plugs, and coils have been replaced (and moved to good known cylinders) but the misfire persists on Cylinder 6. More troubleshooting to be done here.
There are other cosmetic things, and the fluids are ready to be replaced (oil, diff, trans, etc), but for $500 (friends and family discount) I am not complaining. The car runs and drives right now just needs maintenance.

No pics of it yet since I am picking it up tomorrow. Very exited to finally have a 4th gen 4Runner in the stable.
