The shooting stars are from a Fujifilm HS20, a 16MP digital bridge camera that got really good reviews in its day. Maybe 40x zoom, I forget. Probably 20% less of a camera than the P900, but had its bright spots. And resolution was comparable to the P900.

Figured I'd ask, I go back to work on Thurs, 1st day back in a month lol good times, so once over time starts rolling in again, I may end up looking into a p1000 just because I want the zoom, or maybe even a diff camera altogether, something just in general that has better image quality...

Hope return to work goes well.

It seems to me that big-zoom bridge cameras are staying around 16MP for now, maybe due to processor speed. 16 isn't bad, and I would grab a P1000 if my situation warrants it. But I want to push my abilities on my 47MP Nikon just for higher resolution photos if nothing else. My 28-300 lens doesn't come close to the P900 for zoom, but options are limited. It does do a great job when I let it lol.

None. Bone Stock. EXCEPT: Brushguard, tow hitch, both welded to the frame. It's good to have friends and a fully equipped garage!
When I was a kid, mid-sixties-ish, my father took me to an air show at Moffet Field, in the Bay Area. We got to watch the Angels, in a nice tight formation, fly right through the big blimp hangar there. F-4 Phantom II's. They went right over the crowd to do it, and everyone was cheering, and screaming, jumping up and down...
I've spoken with a number of helicopter pilots from MCAS(H) Tustin. Turns out, if the hangar doors on their old blimp hangars were open, the Phantoms from El Toro, just down the road a few miles, would fly the hangar every chance they got. The helicopter mechanics working there didn't mind, other than their hearing taking a hit...

About 10 years later, I was working on the F-4's at MCAS Yuma. I used to ride my motorcycle over to NAS El Centro on weekends to watch the Angels practise. I, along with many others, was very disappointed when they went to the A-4s, and then the F/A-18C's. The F-4s were real crowd pleasers, big, loud, smokey, and leaky. Trust me on that. The 18's aren't bad, they're just not the Phantoms! Even if they had gone to the F-14's it wouldn't have been so bad...

Anywho, I still love watching the Angels fly!

Cool bridges you have there. Does automobile traffic cross over, or are they closed up above?

They're both closed, the one by me, isn't technically even attached to the road anymore, there's about a 1.5 foot gap to the bridge

Trestles are fun photo subjects since they don't move you can take all the time in the world to compose a shot.

    Nice shot

Looks like lots of rust... would you happen to have the original color shot still ?

The 'rust' is actually more to do with this silver paint that's flecking off the metal beamwork. I'll have to dig through an old archive drive to find the original and will post it when I find it!

Thank you, I appreciate it, I can imagine what you mean, I've seen a few silver painted bridges doing what you described , builds character I suppose

Well...that wasn't as painful a search as I originally feared. You see, I have over eight different external drives (still working out the logistics in setting up this 40TB raid box!) and I found the originals on the first drive that I plugged into!

Never hurts to get lucky occasionally, I think I like the colored version better, either way, nice shot 40Tb Is some serious storage

Yes, I kinda like the color better but wanted to play around with some b/w processing for kicks.

I need this amount of storage having 4 x 2TB externals just for the terrestrial images and 4 x 2TB for astrophotography images! The storage demand for astro images (during processing) becomes absurdly large...

The main scope optics is a Williams Optics Fluorostar 91 (91mm main objective diameter), 540mm focal length @ f/5.9
Guiding (star tracking) via a TPO 180mm f/4.5 guidescope with a dedicated ASI290 monochrome camera.

...I need not wonder why I don't have any mad money for serious mods for my 4Runner right now! :( :DRig.jpg

Much like how we save up and spend on upgrades for our 4Runners...I didn't drop coin all at once on my astro gear. Just don't want to tally up the total amount if you know what I mean!

@Daddykool , as suggested by you and a few others, it was a weird feeling, but I sent my P900 off to nikon today... part of me is thinking just pull the trigger on a P1000.... yeah, I'm impatient lol,

We'll see what the news is hopefully in a few days, and what the repair quote is, may be getting a P1000 sooner than later..especially if the quote comes back high. Blah the waiting is a killer
