What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

Had to crawl under it in the dark when I got home from work with a can of PB blaster and some silicone spray. Leaving for work this morning I noticed the shifter was sticky and wouldn't go into "Drive" correctly, it would only engage in "S". . Lubricating the linkage did the trick.

 

Let it go, who really cares?

 

Where exactly is this located? I know it's on the passenger side up in the middle. Need to do this. Did you just start it with PB blaster, let it sit and then spray silicon grease?

 

The linkage is actually on the driver's side of the vehicle, on the side of the transmission case. Yeah, I sprayed it with PB blaster, got in and worked the shifter back and forth till it freed up, then sprayed it with the silicone spray.

It is actually an sr5 disguised as a trail. I bought the bumpers from Toyota and had them painted. Just saving for the trail hood.

I really like my fake hood scoop. Like many cars, I din know it was fake till recently. And I just noticed the famous hood scoop sun glare like this year. But f. the sun monster, good scoop looks good imo

I was actually confusing the NSS with the linkages that you were referring to.
The NSS is on the passenger side.

 

You should have put it near/next to the gas tank door. That way it would look like the Goblin Farts were going into the tank. To power your SloRunna'.

P.S. I've noticed that A LOT of your pictures, are you at the pump? LOL. Do you get 9MPG or something?

 

BMC and Pinch welds done a week ago. New wheels/tires put on yesterday. 255/80 Toyo Open Country R/T Trail with 17x8.5 +0 Motegi Trailite. The BMC was probably overkill, but I wanted the space for articulation. Testing this weekend!

Why are you replacing the seat bottom? Did it get damaged or are you trying to increase comfort? I've been thinking about seeing how the front seat bottom could be modified to be more comfortable. My thoughts are possibly softer foam, maybe a slightly wider/custom cushion and/or adding something like this: https://leatherseats.com/shop/seat-comfort/liquicell-pads/

 

Got a AJT key fob and was pretty disappointed. I’m not sure about all the positive reviews but maybe I got a bad one. The physical key wouldn’t lock in place. The little slide lock wouldn’t engage so it would fall out. I reach out to AJT for answers and they recommended sanding the parts as it’s a “tight fit”. So I tried hand sanding but that didn’t work. Then I hit it with a dremel. After about 5 minutes of shaving down the parts that stood up, I got it to lock. The fob admittedly looks cool but for a 40 dollar keychain, I expect more.


FYI, I have 2023 4Runner, maybe these keys fit differently ‍♂️

Did they tell you if they bent them, or chop n weld and paint? I had the latter done. Plus some firewall hammering and additional fender liner cutting

13 years of use, the foam near the outside bolster is all but gone-it's like sitting on metal there.

 

mmmm looks the same as mine only white. Although mine is a 2011 so my flares are not molded like yours.
