    Looks like the new broncos but the 6th gen 4 runner will be going hybrid and they will be 4 cylinder and the back window won't roll down. I think the 5th gen value will go up when these roll out. Just my opinion of course.

    The 2024 Fortuner is the mid-sized SUV version of the Toyota Hi-Lux pickup. The new 2025 4Runner is supposed to be a SUV version of the Tacoma pickup.

    According to “The Times of India” : “The design of the new 2024 Fortuner takes inspiration from the Tacoma pickup truck that was recently revealed.”

    Would it follow from this that the new 2025 4Runner will look like the 2024 Fortuner, a car that will come in both a hybrid and non hybrid version?

    The Fortuner is an inferior product to the 4runner in terms of everything, engine, fit and finish, space etc.
    The new 4runner will be based on the new Tacoma and will be far more boxy unlike the curvey new Fortuner. The Fortuner is good though( had one for 10 years) and the diesel engine is very nice but it is no 4runner. In India, Toyota has not deviated from the original Fortuner since it's launch due to the price sensitive nature of the market. Although, Toyotas are grossly over priced in India but command a very strong following due to realibilty and status symbol it brings.

    Fortuner is way too bubbly and not on part with the 4Runner class.

    Just take a 2024 Tacoma and draw the SUV part on the back. That's probably going to be the 4Runner.

    That's the current Fortuner, which is pretty irrelevant to the 4Runner and TNGA-F redesign that's coming. Right here is the next generation Fortuner. Leaked last year. Hilux might look a little similar.

    The Fortuner is going to get become more expensive, as is the Hilux. It's why Toyota is developing smaller BOF models, to cover the ascension of the Hilux into more consumer orientated spaces like the Tacoma.

    I wonder if the new mini Land Cruiser FJ is based on the same chassis as the Fortuner, since it is also a BOF GA-F?

    The LC is the flagship model for Toyota. The Fortuner is a budget SUV based on the Hilux pickup for price sensitive developing markets.
    Everything flows down from the LC, and if there is an alternative platform, it's a derivate of the LC platform, not the other way around.

    Nah, I think the Fortuner is much bigger. I'm surprised the mini FJ is bof and not related to the Corolla Cross.

    What do you think about Gen 6 reveal? Toyota might stick to 4Runner tradition and reveal it after production begins? Let's hope not. I don't know why anyone is so quick to consider it vaporware anyway, as shit happens with delayed releases.

    Notably, Toyota revealed both Gen 4 and 5 on 9/23/2002 and 9/24/2009. Can't remember when for Gen 3. Pattern maybe?

    It doesn't really matter if they're all modular TNGAF now. Before, the '07 Tundra was first to get the 2UR-FE in Jan '07 ahead of the Land Cruiser 200 in Nov '07. Wasn't the case in 1998-99. It's not the same thing, but stuff doesn't always flow down from the LC.

    As a whole anyway, what you're saying already is proven by the fact TNGAF debuted in the Land Cruiser 300 first. Everything else is just a modular configuration of F.

    2002 and 2009 are ancient history in the car world, the current pattern is set by the Tacoma, GX550 and LC250 2023 reveals, about six months before production begins and 9 months before they hit the dealer. So the 6th gen 4Runner will probably be revealed between June and September 2024 and hit dealers between February and April 2025.

    Everything is now a derivative of the TNGA-F platform, not the LC, Land Cruiser is a model, not a platform. The new "Land Cruiser FJ", a trademarked name, is another model, but in the C-SUV class. Since the production schedule lists it as a GA-F class, we can assume it is a BOF, not a unibody, as some early speculation said it was.

    Again, it's irrelevant what happened in 07 with the Tundra and the LC.
    This is a 6th Gen thread and my post
    was strictly based on Fortuner ( a non US model) as a basis for the new mini LC.
    Anyhow this thread has lost its relevance and I would not be commenting further on it.

    Toyota is calling the new 250 a Prado in markets where 70 and 300 series Landcruisers are sold and well established: in the Middle East, Australia, S. America and Africa. That’s a pretty big chunk of the world, and its not “speculation” it is fact. The only place the 250 is not called Prado is in markets that do not have 70 and 300 series Landcruisers: N America and Europe.

    So Toyota is making a clear distinction between Landcruisers (70 and 300) and Prados (250.) Is Prado meant as a diminutive, a sub-brand of Landcruiser? And if so, why? Enquiring minds would like to know. Is it because the 250 Prados are being made at the high volume Tahara factory alongside 4Runners while the 70 and 300s are made at the ultra high quality Yoshiwara factory? It’s hard to say but that seems to be a possible explanation. What do you think?

    What it could very well mean is that the Prado 250 absolutely is the 4Runner replacement as many have said, at least as concerns production in Japan; and that would seem to reinforce rumors that the production of 6th Gen 4Runners will be transferred to Mexico as an addendum to the Tacoma brand or someplace other than Japan.

    Yes Prado has always been the Tudor to the Landcruiser's Rolex. But I really would have thought they would dump the sub-brand in favor of an all Landcruiser offering. The 250 is advertised as the be all and end all of Landcruisers and yet Toyota can't bring themselves to call it such. I have to believe that Landcruiser buyers in all these five major geographies, who really use the full offroad/reliability/pure unrelenting capacity of the legendary 70 and stellar 300, would not accept the 250 as a Landcruiser (Australia, Middle East, S. America, and Africa.) These are not regions of the world famous for their Costcos. So Toyota is obliged to keep the 250 as a Prado (4Runner.) And it is Toyota making that choice, not any editorialist, enthusiast, 70 series fan or random observer.

    So would Toyota continue to make the Prado, GX and 4Runner in Tahara and Landcruisers at Yoshiwara? It just seems like the 4Runner is destined to become a full Tacoma offering made in Mexico. And no matter what one thinks of Tacomas or Mexico, time may be running out for a Japanese made 4Runner.
