I have a 2005 4Runner V8 with 172000 miles. About a week ago, the cabin fan stopped working. I did some diagnostics (checked fuses, etc) and came to the conclusion that the fan was shot. I replaced it (the old one did seem a little sticky) but it still does not run. I unplugged the new fan and connected the plug to a multimeter. When I turned the fan on, the MM went to 12V initially and settled down to around 4V. Is this normal? If I am getting power to the drain but it is not working, is there another issue I should be looking at?

Not normal 12V fan won't work with 4V to it.

Does it do it on all fan speeds?

Kyle, Thanks. What would cause the voltage drop? I will check on all speeds in the morning.

    Could be number of things.

I know Chevy's back in the day had the blower motor resistor always died. Could only use fan on high speed. Might not be common on Toyotas but it can happpen.
