15 psi KO2s, had to shovel my ass out. Don't go on the mountain trails with stock street tires.

It still depends more on the driver. My uncle did pre-runner for Dick Cepek and Mickey Thompson for the Baja 1000 in a Toyota 2WD P/U with just a winch. I took my Subaru BRAT :)yes:) and '68 Corona on many a trail that most wouldn't make (I wouldn't do it today w/o a buddy along!)

    This!

Last year we had a lot more snow than usual in Northern AZ. I saw too many people going way faster than they should be going. A lot of them ended up in the ditch or on the side of the highway a couple miles further

And that's exactly where they belong. In the ditch. Sadly, they learn naught. They go out, buy another car, and drive too fast for the conditions. What's worse, they take people who are trying to drive cautiously, and take them off the road with them quite often.

I wish they could be charged with reckless driving or something, not allowed to buy another car, spend time in jail, something. But they don't, they just go out and take more innocents with them when they prang. If the innocent victims don't cooperate, by driving too fast, moving off the side of the road into the ditch, whatever, then road-rage hits. They will deliberately wreck someone, stop short in front of them, and then get out and beat them up. Something. Still no punishment...

    Oh well...

It seems like every month in the winter, someone is killed going back to the "Wet Side" of the Cascades, usually on Monday AM, after staying over after skiing on Sunday PM and driving too fast to get to work! Unfortunately, it also seems they manage to crash into a local and they are the ones who get killed.

I-40 outside Flagstaff is always a sad sight after a good snow. You'd think the road was doing everything it could to shake the vehicles off.

The I-17 is also a shit show. Last year there was snow from camp verde to flagstaff and I’ve seen probably at least 20-30 cars on the side of the road in 1 day

When I got transferred to Millington, Tn., back in 82, just after spending Christmas at my parent's house in the Bay Area, we took I-40. We moved in our 75 Pinto, towing a U-Haul trailer. Don't tell U-Haul, but I was using it to move my motorcycle, along with the gear I considered essential for survival. We got hit by a blizzard outside Flagstaff. When the back end broke loose the third or fourth time, I pulled over to the side, broke out the sleeping bags (good down to -10), made some hot cocoa and food for me and my wife on the Coleman 2 burner pump-up, and settled into the car to ride it out. Our newborn daughter had"another" source of sustennance <ahem>. I'd just start in now and then when we got too cold, run the heat for a bit, and settle back down to get some sleep. That car had a great heater!
The next morning, after they had scraped off the road some, I made it, sloooowly, to a gas station, and got a set of chains. The only ones they had that would fit my car were just a little too big, but I had to get there, so I went with them. I got there all right, but the chains beat a hole in my filler neck. Got a ton of snow and dirt in my tank. I had to stop every so often and clean out the carb bowl, and blow out the gas lines. I made in on time, but I was sicker than a dog.

I wsa down for a few days, but finally pulled out. I really didn't think we'd hit any weather like that in Flagstaff, after having been stationed in Yuma for the last 2 years! We watched I don't know how many people go racing past us as we were parked on the side of the freeway. A lot of them lost it in sight of us. This was the middle of the night, in a blizzard, mind, so visibility was terrible. A cop did stop behind us, set out some flares to help protect us, and told me I was one of the few intelligent people that were pulled over to ride it out. While he was there, we saw a 4WD pickup go by at full speed, loose control, and slide into the ditch near us. Cop said "See?", and took off.

I spent a week dropping the tank out of my Pinto, cleaning it out, and putting it back in. Real adventure for a guy that had very limited mechanical education. I was lucky the apartment we were renting was in walking distance of the school I was there for.

    Have fun, all!

After 10 years in the Corps, I think I can handle most any road bully. Granted, it's a bit tougher now with only 1 real leg, and a fake, but even so. I wasn't meaning me personally getting beat up by a road bully, but just in general. And yes, I DO have guns.
