New to me 2016 SR5. This was hanging from the rear view mirror. It’s cable is routed up the ceiling behind the driver sun visor.

what is it for? If it is factory, where did it once sit? I’m thinking it is a key presence antenna but no clue why it would be out like that. If aftermarket, any clue why?

I searched the web for it, but nothing hit.

Thanks for the replies. Indeed you are correct. I had noted one of the keys had a fob which didn’t look factory. It had button looked like snowflake. I had pushed it earlier but nothing happened. Today I held it down as the 4Runner honked like I set of the alarm. Then it started! Which is a pleasant surprise.

too bad you still have to take the key out of the pocket and stick it in the ignition. I miss push button. Granted I’m 50 and spent 30 years cranking the ignition key. But I did get spoiled with my few years of push button. But starting remote in cold is nice.
