Did not know that, thanks for the 411. I will have to review my tire choice.

Finally upgraded to Icon Suspension with Total Chaos HEIM UCA and 285/70/17 on 4Runner's 40th Anniversary wheels. Went with Total Chaos to avoid having to grease the bushings and the Delta joints every oil change. 200 miles in and dramatic change on the drive. Extremely happy! Alignment in the morning .

BFG advertises the tread pattern was designed to capture water! No wonder wet pavement handling feels like a deathtrap!

    Please excuse my amateur question.

Is there no cap or cover to protect that ball joint from water/mud/dirt?

How often you need to lubricate the ball joint and 2 bushings? Every oil change?

    Capture water?
Visually KO3 seem to have more water evacuation paths.
Tighter lugs seem to have more rubber on surface.
Now even Load C seem to have triple side Wall.

Why I shared it because of that RF thing to prevent theft. Very interesting tires to have that.

They’re easy to clean with something like WD40 and then give it a few hits of PTFE spray for lube after the cleaning solvent is dry. They do corrode, so if you live in a state that uses salt, I’d personallly get something with caps.

All the Upper Control Arms I looked at with polyurethane bushings recommended to be greased with a grease gun every 5k miles (loosen the UCA bolt to grease) and the Delta joints also have to get greased similar times. So I narrowed the search to HEIM joints and the Total Chaos Uniball calls for lubricating with an aerosol spray lubricant every 5K.
With Southern Ca weather I can run without caps. Hope to not need replacing for a while finger crossed 60K miles. Also lucky Total Chaos is local.

Nice rig! I wasn't always a fan of white lettered tires on T4R, but those look REALLY sharp on yours (might be the setup + rims).

If UCA have such easy maintenance not needing grease guns or loosen of bolts that is good news for a lazy guy like myself. (I don't even do my own oil change. Even though I have everything needed at home, lol.)

If a cap is available I would use it so dust and dirt won't get into the ball joint. And these days all the salt dropped to melt snow.

    Thanks for sharing the info.

After waiting a month and a half for the dealer to get the special tool needed to pressurize the system, got my front KDSS piston replaced under warranty, 5 days before the bumper to bumper expired.

Very interesting nowadays TRD ORP having TRD Pro price tag. Just 5 years back they were under 40K.

Regardless of what kind you get, it’s not a bad idea to have a grease gun on hand when you’re not feeling lazy and hit the zerks under the vehicle.

Here you can see what one season of salt did to an old vehicle of mine.

Oh, by the way, thanks for saying you "took" a deer. I hate it when people say they "killed" one. That always implies (to me), that they're doing it purely for the sport, and not for the meat. I only hunt for meat, not trophies.

Yeah, for as expensive as Bajakits are.. but I probably could have been more diligent. The ADS shocks behind them also took a beating. WV salt treatment at its finest.

Thanks. I saw that video & my 2023 is not like that. I bring up the ECO screen but I have not found how to turn it off. I've tried holding the center button, no help, no where did I find the on/off selection for it. I only have had it come on since week ago Friday. I was out of town for business until Thursday.

I have a 2023, and I found it with ease. I just hopped in my truck and it took me 2 minutes to find the setting.

I didn't start the truck (but you can if you want), I put it into accessory mode. Then I used the controls of right side of the steering wheel and arrowed over to the settings section (it looks like a cog). I then scrolled down to "meter settings" and found the Eco Mode button.

To turn it off, press the center button on the right controls. That changes it from on to off. Easy Peasy!
