I hit a grocery cart someone left in the middle of the freeway going 70 mph.

It luckily only cracked my front right bumper.

The quote the local Toyota approved body shop gave was ~$1900. It was about $300 for OEM part 5211935920 and then an additional $1600 for labor for both install and paint matching.

For that total price, is there an aftermarket bumper that i can replace this with at or around that same price?

Another option is, I found that same OEM online for $120-200. I could easily pull the old off and replace with the primed black and leave it black. Has anyone done this? Look okay?

Im going to try to upload a pic of mine.

Any thoughts or suggestions as fixing this? (The lights all work).

Just a thought, but aftermarket bumper usually leads to updated suspension to handle the extra weight. I'd be inclined to viper cut and "sew" the remaining crack with zip ties

Thanks. The viper cut is a really nice look, but im mechanically smart enough to do it and it look good. Im not sure what sew the remaining crack with zip ties means. Could you explain?

Zip tie looks awful, but you have a darker colour and potentially not much of a crack left to stitchfd6202s.jpg

Oh wow! Yeah, that seems extreme for my case as nothing is rubbing or dragging.

I mean you do a viper cut first, then stitch the remaining crack. Might not be much to stitch after most of the cracked fender is cut off

Have you tried searching for a used bumper on either craigslist, offered or FB marketplace? Out here in SoCal there are tons for sale. You may be able to find one in MGM so you don't even have to paint it...bumper removal/install is very easy, there's a few good YouTube videos you can reference.

To answer your question, there are a few different aftermarket bumper options that cut high enough where you can keep the remainder of that bumper...Lil B's, Backwoods, C4, being a few of them.

@jkirkpatrick is right though - you'll end up spending $$ on suspension after adding 100+ lbs of weight to the front.

When i had stuff like this happen it's best to find a body shop (Or do yourself) with junkyard connections so they can buy them cheap and repaint. Or even find the same color from a rear totaled 4Runner. Should be easy since you have the most popular color.

Thanks all. It looks like MGI Auto via Ebay is the best option. They seem to have the exact part (new) and will paint and ship for $500 and Ill replace after watching a few youtube videos.

Hopefully they paint it with the correct paint so it doesn't splinter and flake. Hope it matches too....

It's bound to look better than a cracked bumper "sewn" together with zip ties.

I especially like the two holes drilled through the fog light housing & zip ties to keep the eyeball looking forward.

I bought a front bumper cover this month from Partify. They color matched my Attitude Black perfectly. Got it for $430

This^ also sounds good too OP
Hey @Stickey wow that's wild you hit that, sorry to see. Happy to hear that damage is the worst part of the incident, on the bright side

I have removed my front bumper cover a number of times.
I did the viper cut myself w/ a borrowed Dremel in my small garage.
You could theoretically viper cut, then mend the crack from behind the cover or something even. But its gunna shake around and vibrate on you near the damage area when you take a Dremel to that sucker.
I like the idea of the prime back bumper actually.
But you sound well on your way with a relatively inexpensive replacement.

***I would be sure your bumper cover clips and mounting points aren't damaged before ordering the cover. Just cuz I believe you can also purchase replacement clips/mounts too if needed, at least from Toyota.
I ask this cuz I've got a decent amount of moderate impact damage to my front cover and valance (from the woods), and your seam at quarter panel looks suspect in photo. Mine are a little messed myself

Someday I'll get the nerve to take off my front bumper cover to see if I can fix that spot under the PS headlight that doesn't want to stay put...

As someone who has a deer run into him every time I leave the house I have gotten some practice at fixing plastic parts. You probably won't get it perfect, but I bet you could get it close. Lot's of YouTube vids, and products I didn't even know were out there. I ordered primer/paint/clear coat from Amazon. It turned out pretty good, and not much money invested.
