High Clearance Rear Bumper Mods

I came across a couple tubed rear bumper mods that could keep us from losing our bumpers on every decent obstacle.

Looking for an armor option that retains my stock hitch and stock location spare

One is custom pulled from a different forum.

The other is a diy kit from 80percentoffroad.

Has anyone seen something like this before?

 

Those custom cuts are slick and probably a lot of work. Most people will probably opt for an aftermarket bumper but I'm sure there is a market for an OEM look. I personally want some protection but I have no desire to cut the factory plastics. This is another custom job I found on the other forum that I liked:

I don't see how adding a tube below the factory departure angle can be called "high clearance".

 

I bought this one. I'd post a pic of my 4R, but it's full of salt and frozen slush. I bought mine raw and had the bumper painted to match. I also was able to re-use the factory mudflaps with some innovation.
The X-member had the holes in it already, so we hogged them out and put in lights.

The spare stays in the factory location. I cut out the 2 horse shoe brackets shown in your pic #4, for better spare tire clearance.

Good point, like in Post #2 your subbing plastic for metal.

1. Do you have a body lift?
2. Am I looking at your factory hitch unaffected ?

 

The 80%OR option is pretty high clearance. It’s not below the bumper. The bumper is cut in half to install this. When I spoke to the guy running 80percentoffroad he explained that if you get the hitch relocation you’re gaining 5-6 inches of clearance.
Which is HUGE imo.

You also have steel put in its place so when you smack your bumper on obstacles you essentially have a slider under your bumper. I really like the idea honestly.

Maybe I have a different perspective after seeing multiple rear bumpers get destroyed

1) No, I do not have a body lift. 1.5" rear, 2.0" front.
2) Factory hitch is the same as it came from the factory. I do take it off when I go off-roading. And the spare goes on the roof.
