Hi folks. New Owner, pick up on Friday. I've been a multiple Jeep owner since 2000, but mixing it up now a bit. 72 years old and purchased the Solar Octane color. Ha. Fir t time Toyota owner transferring from a Jeep Gladiator Diesel. I've seen some comments about younger folks thinking this is a young person's SUV, so I guess I'll get lots of comments about my age and color choice. But as a more seasoned off road driver, I say your never older than the day before, until your not. Hope to enjoy the forum the same as my previous Jeep forums.

Congrats! Are you sure you got a ‘24 TRD Pro? I don’t believe the Pro is offered in Solar Octane for 2024

    Oooh look, another mod.....
I had the same thought. I think what he meant was, he bought his 2023 Solar Octane in 2024? Or the dealership tried to get one over on him!

Welcome Jeeper, and congrats! Get a viper cut if you plan to step on rocks, and get better tires.
And soon you will find Toyota's A-Trac is better than Jeep's BLD.

Hi Folks, thanks for the warm welcome and info about the 23/24 question. Picking up today, and checked my paperwork and definitely says 24. Will have to strongly look at the paperwork again.

Welcome. I picked up my Pro on Tuesday and couldn't be happier. Make sure that dealer isn't pulling a fast one on you and selling a 23 from the lot as a 24!

Ha! Us seasoned guys are still relevant, eh? Happy birthday tomorrow. Hopefully we are still young pups. I still ride adventure off road trails with my motorcycle and find numerous 80 year plus riders out there so consider myself that young pup. Or maybe I'm just fooling myself, but seem to be proficient so far in doing so.

    yes definitely check the paperwork!

It should be either a 2023 solar octane TRD Pro or a 2024 solar octane TRD Off Road.

Either way it's a good choice (also no difference between 2023 and 2024 model years as far as i know). Just make sure you get it cleared out so the dealership doesnt charge you more than they should

Just look @ Grill/Valance/Roof Rack/Wheels/Badges. To determind if a PRO or TRD OR for a quick ref. Now the year have to do a little more looking inside door post should have date of mfg & the year of the vehicle.P.S.
I had a 2018 TRD OR, kept Stock tires until 26k on them & never had any issues in the snow either. Toyota I don't believe would sell a vehicle W/inferior tires as some post about. Just my humble opinion & yes I knw just like @$$holes everyone has 1 & most of them stink.

Thank you for the information, it is indeed a 24 model year TRD Off-road Premium, but not the Pro. The color is the Solar Octane, which I really like, so I wouldn't have been happy with the Pro. I think my confusion must have come from it setting side by side with a Pro model, as they certainly looked the same with the moon roof, side steps and roof rack. I now see that I have just the roof rack but not the basket roof rack. No big deal on the roof rack so happy with the build. Thanks to everyone for the caution, as I was once taken advantage of when much younger when buying a small 3 horse outboard Honda John boat motor which I thought was a current year model and found out after receiving the title that it was 3 years old. Honda dealer tried to tell me that even though 3 years old it was still brand new. Ha! Even in my relative youth that answer didn't fly. Never used that dealer again even though I purchased 2 Hondas in subsequent years from another dealer.

Congrats and hello from the coast! You'll find the standard roof rack to be more adaptable than the Pro 'basket' when it comes to adding cargo case(s)...also, it also provides a lower profile. I swapped out my basket for an aftermarket roof rack and while its slightly taller than factory, my cargo boxes sit a good 1 1/2" lower than the basket...and I can properly mount the cases without a crazy amount of cantilever.

Sure TRD Pro has few good things over the TRD ORP at the time of purchase like JBL sound, auto headlights, etc..

There are few things I'm not a fan of TRD Pro-

Roof rack - 1) wind noise 2) height, if lifted it will not clear my garage entrance.

Skinny wheels- Since I'm a 285/70R17 tire lover TRD Pro wheels do not meet the requirements. (TRD ORP wheels are good for 285s.)

Dual auto climate control - In winter I like to keep the airflow in recirculating mode not to let cold air in. But everytime I remote start the stupid thing is in fresh air mode.

TRD exhaust- My wife and elder kids always argue with me not to take the TRD Pro since the exhaust is noisy.

Non matching spare tire- I'm not a fan of using a non matching tire even for temporary purpose. (Can't believe Toyota being that cheap. True these TRD Pro parts are installed locally, but why not swap the spare tire? I don't understand.)

Turn indicators on mirrors- Till 2023 TRD Pro owners required to roll down the windows and indicate by hand that you are turning to those in the side who don't see front and rear turn lights. :p

Price (with or without markup) - You don't even get leather and ventilated seats like Limited. Maybe even automatic running boards if anyone needs. Getting the same SR5 Premium/ TRD ORP seats with softex synthetic material.

Buying TRD ORP you have the freedom to start mods at a better state. Even the sound system which is easier to upgrade than JBL as far as I heard.
