Octane 87 or higher required 2018 4Runner

something I didn’t consider when buying this rig!! With gas prices going up, $3.18 a gal stings at Plus grade.

 

87 is the lowest you can get around here. Here being Kansas City. I travel for work and I don’t remember seeing an octane rating lower than 87 anywhere. Where do you live?

 

Here in Utah 85 is regular, 87 Super, 90-91 Premium is what you’ll normally see here. I’ve always used regular in past vehicles and most seem to use 85 octane that I’ve seen.

 

Here in NY 87 is regular we don't have anything lower... and 93 is the highest.. I always get better gas mileage using 93 then 87

 

85 is fine at higher elevations, I use it with no issues.

 

I've had many vehicles in the past and never felt that 91 gave me any benefit, it does seem mid-grade was a bit better. Now I feel that we've had this lower quality fuel than the rest of the Nation ! Whats wrong with this place! lol

 

no 85 octane here... also no E85 ethanol fuel.. these must use 87 octane with 10% or less ethanol .. cannot use any 15% ethanol fuel..

I did the 87 to 93 octane test MPG did not change so NO way to use that expensive 93 ..
