2nd gen exhaust manifold flipping

Ok, firstly I want to say thanks for allowing me into the group. Secondly im going crazy with an idea I have, and in order to go through with my build I need exhaust that exits forward towards the radiator. I have 1995 sr5 with a 3.0 v6. Does anyone know if the manifolds can be flipped on these trucks?

 

not sure on the manifold but what are you building, sounds interesting

 

My plans are simply a built long block and twins, with my back I'll never be able to do proper wheeling so why not go for gobs of power and dirt road hooliganism

 

To answer your question, probably not. If memory serves, the manifolds are symmetrical but the issue is that the driver side manifold has two ports, one for the passenger side exhaust to enter the driver side (stupid wrap around design that is actually what causes the head gaskets to blow) and then another hole below where the two side exit and go down the rest of the exhaust. If flipped, the second hole will be flipped upside down. Additionally you would probably have to do some kind of egr delete as well to make it work since the ports would be moved. After you solve those problems you would need to figure out how to not hit all the accessories on the front of the block as the alternator and ps pump are right in line with that.

I'm sick right now, but whenever I get up, I'll take some pics for you of the manifolds since mine are no longer in the truck so you can see what I'm talking about

 

Thanks that would be huge, and as far as accessory locations I'll move those and well I want egr gone anyhow lol. Was thinking id need a pair of passenger side manifolds for sure

 

Dual passengers might work. Never really considered that when I was looking at mine. Twin turbo, that'll be interesting. I'm assuming you're going to cut the hood since there is no room under the hood?

 

I plan to make as much room as possible under the hood and cut where needed, moving all the electronics I can to in the cabin, eliminating ac most likely and removing inner fenders, also considering a 2 inch body lift to give me a touch more room to play as well
