A Lime Rush Observation

As I've been trolling the 4Runners for sale in the 200 mile radius around me, I am struck by just how many lime rush TRD Pros there are for sale, relative to other colors. Did they just make a lot more of those? Do the owners of Lime Rush just not hold on to them the way Army Green and Lunar Rock owners do? Just a curiosity...

 

I bet a lot of it has to do with the model years being available, I think Lime Rush is the Pro exclusive color for the 2022MY that trickled down for 2023 so those are what you’re seeing. (since it seems Solar Octane was for the 2023 Pro but I see it in the configurator with the 2024 Pro now in Terra and Solar Octane available for some TRD trims.)

Also my girlfriend thinks it’s awfully garish so I bet it’s polarizing. I pointed one out at a stop light since a Lime Rush OR that seemed like an alright deal popped up while shopping:

“Hey, what do you think of that color hun?”

“…No!”

 

I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of owners tired of it quickly. Personally, I can't stand it. All the other PRO colors that I initially didn't like have grown on me, but not this one.

Jeep has a similar color called Mojito, I think it's MUCH better, and works better on Jeeps.

 

My bet is that Hot Wheels color wore out it’s welcome early with owners.

 

I've always respected Toyota for putting out bold colors, but the Lime Rush was a swing and a miss, in my opinion.

You probably see a lot for two reasons:

1) It was a Pro designated color for one year, but they offered it for two more model years on any trim level.
2) I think the "cool factor" wears off fast on that color. People regret buying such a bright ass color. It looks like a full sized Hot Wheels car. But not a good looking one.

 

Ditto. A guy in my parking garage at work had one and sold it after about a year citing the color as the thing he loved most about it when he bought it and the thing he liked least about it when he sold it.

 

I imagine this is how many people feel... It's a very polarizing color to say the least.

That's what I had. But it wasn't a Pro. They offered the color again in 2021. BUT...it impressed everyone who saw it. Every single time they saw it.

It was made during Covid so a lot of people got desperate and settled for it (one of the most unpopular colors) once other models and colors became available they traded in

 

Its cuz all their friends make fun of their ugly color

 

Oh hell yeah, Voodoo rocked. It definitely would have been worth the Pro tax to get that color.

It's funny, I didn't like Cavalry Blue when it came out, but it's really aged well, maybe even better than Voodoo.

 

I've been offered the lime pro at MSRP by several dealerships while I was waiting for my 4R back in 2022.
I dont like the color and wanted MGM so I had to be patient and wait a couple more months to get a MGM pro at MSRP.
I bet a lot of the less patient people got the lime pro as it was the "easiest pro to buy" and now regret it so they're selling it.

It could be anecdotal but that's what I've heard from at least 2 people that did it in my entourage (one of them sold it after a year and the other one a couple weeks ago)

If they offered the Voodoo Blue in 2023 on the ORP I def would have got that. I think of all the specialty bold colors this was the most appealing and easiest to live with long term.....YMMV

 

Jokes apart, I think those bright colors look really good on lady driven 4Runners. Especially the green and orange ones.

I have been saving for almost 2 years for the Lime Rush and when I saw the solar octane, I decided to get that color. After going in and looking at one, I just loved Lime Rush so much more and bought it. Every time I drive it, heads turn and ppl come over to me telling me how cool it looks. The color isn’t for everyone, but I just love it on the 4Runner and don’t regret my purchase one bit! I will say the color is so much more stunning in person than pics. I’m currently trying to talk my hubby into getting the Tacoma in the car electric green color

 

My wife has always wanted a car in the lime green, so it's understandable. Got any photos of said 4R?

Here she is today! I think it’s pretty obvious my hubby and I like Toyota’s lol

 

The human eye is most receptive to the color green, as it fires off two color receptors in the eye, out of three. I still like my 4Runner color. They are for sale right now at the MSRP I purchased it for back in Dec. 2021 (0% depreciation). Less than 700 were made that year for the 2022 Lime Rush TRD PRO, according to a source who works at Toyota, primarily due to the chip shortage and COVID. After 2022 model, it became an option on other 4Runners than the TRD PRO. I've seen 2 in NC so far in 2 years with the same color, but never a TRD PRO one in this entire state. To each their own.

 

Lime Rush is like SO you either love it or hate it. It took a while for the wife to like it because it’s bold and pops in your face. She even asked what will I do if I get sick of the color. Since it paid for I will just get it wrapped a different color. I have no plans for the 6thGen.

 

How do you buy touch up paint for the lime ?

 

It’s probably no different then the SO I bought from the dealer.

 

Was not a big fan of the color when it first came out, couple years later I bought a lime rush pro. I liked the unique feel of the rig, takes me out of my comfort zone.
