Hi All. I'm a new member as I just found this site this morning. My 4Runner has been in my family since first purchased in 1991. It is a great vehicle and takes me where I want to go which is mostly off road to special hiking sites. I've never been stuck. The 4WD work great. I'm looking at some major repair for front and rear seal leaks...I'm hoping that will be all for a while. The original engine was replaced at 68K miles and currently has 134K original miles overall. I've thought of selling but my heart isn't into parting with it (I've joked about being buried in it, lol).

Welcome. Nice vehicle. My first 4 Runner was a 1992 SR5 V6 we bought new after my 1991 xtra cab SR5 V6 pickup got stolen. What engine did you have to replace ? If I recall correctly the V6 was an option and they also came with a 4 banger.

Yes the 2.4 4cyl 22RE was the base engine.
All 2nd gen 4Rs were ALL SR5 no matter what the options, even my stripper.

That 4cyl was a better engine in my opinion. My buddy had one with it and I drove it many times. I don’t remember the V6 feeling much more peppy. I didn’t recall but thought the SR5 package was the V6 and 31” tires back then but I was young and a lot of the 90’s were a blur.
