    When replacing a flat tire and to loosen the lug nuts there is an OEM-provided small device on which you mount the OEM wrench to loosen or tighten the lug nuts. Once done, this small nut-type device is kept back in the glove compartment, or wherever convenient.
    Could you please tell me the correct technical name for this device? Does it have something to do to prevent stealing? If it is lost, where can I get a replacement from?

    It is for so called locking lug nuts, just so you know the bad guys don’t care. I would shit can them, and go with OE. Just because of the hassle of stripping, losing, and it’s more trouble for you than the bad guys. JMHO

    It is generally called a Lug Nut Key or Wheel Lock Key.
