The limited is full time 4wd, so yours is definitley in 4wd. You might be looking at the center differential lock light or the 4w-LO light. Can you post a picture of the light? If you have the manual you, there should be a picture of what each light looks like.

 

4WD is always on, when you get the yellow light, that means the center differential is locked. Use it on loose/slippery surfaces like sand, dirt, gravel, ice - not on dry pavement.

Otherwise, you'll be fine leaving it in H4F.
