Anyone else having back problems from the driver seat or any other seat on your 4runnner?

something about the lower support in the seat that has been causing me back problems . Never had this issue until I started driving this vehicle.

never had this problem with the sequoia, Camry or tundra I’ve owned.

yeah. I have a 2019 SR5 and the seats are pretty much the only complaint I have about this otherwise awesome vehicle. uncomfortable as hell on long trips. thought it was just me (and my back and bony ass) sliding into my mid 50's but my sons gripe about them too. my wife's Pilot and my 16 y/o Trailblazer have better seats.

I have to keep the lumbar support all the way down (back?) or it bugs me. Other than that, it's hard to discern which back pain is from what.

That’s the thing. I have it set all the way back and it still bothers me.
Not sure what other solutions I can come up with before I ditch it for something else.

I was a bit uncomfortable at first, but once I adjusted the seat bottom all the way down in the rear and raised the front to support under my knees, it’s been fine. I’m 6’. Toyota front seats tend to be a little more narrow than other manufacturers and the cushion foam is firmer.

In winter, I find lowering the rear seat bottom and lifting the front is perfectly comfy. In summer I lift the seat bottom almost all the way up, lower the front a smidge, and move the whole thing forward two inches.

I have no idea why lol. I guess the seat is comfy, or I dont know what a comfy seat is

Sounds like you are shrinking and growing with seasonal changes.

I installed these and, yes, it does help. It re-orients the angle of the seat bottom so you get more support on the bottoms of your thighs. This also re-angles the seat-back in a way that seems to be more comfortable to me. If you're tall, however, it can put the seat up a bit, but the driver's seat is nicely adjustable in the up-down portion - the passenger seat is NOT up/down adjustable, so be aware that if you install the jackers there, a very tall person might be cramped there.

I also installed the very nice Molle panels under the front of the seat for extra storage of things I want to be able to get to quickly (fire extinguisher, knives, handgun, etc.)

Took me 1000 miles to get my seat just right where I needed it to be adjusting it all of the time, my sacked out seat in my 01 Tahoe is like a couch vs the runner. If anyone touches my settings they done!

If you think the 4Runner seat is uncomfortable take a Tacoma on a 4-Hour road trip. Your ass will be numb for the rest of your life. My 4Runner seat is just as comfortable as my wife's Highlander seat so I think it's pretty good but definitely not on par with something like my old tundra seat that 4Runner seat and the Tacoma seats are made to feal the same 20 30 years down the road what I mean is durability and reliability was at the forefront of its design

Conversely, I have a couple of compressed vertebra in my lower back and the lumbar support is great. Better than any car I've ever had. Wish they had it on the passenger side! Wife put a strap in back support in the passenger seat and it improves that side a lot.

Installed mine 3 weeks ago right before a 10 hour road trip. Night and day in my driving comfort. No head room change. I just did the driver side. I didn't add the spacers in the back. I'm 6'2 with short 30 inch inseam and this was perfect for me. Covers slide right back over the jackers to hide them. Amazing what a little extra lift on the thighs does for your lower back. Before I had it fully tilted on the front edge and now I'm about half way. Added some blue thread locker and torqued them to spec 10 minute install. I think regardless of your height and leg length the added adjustability will be usefull for anyone

To me it's more comfortable with the spacers just on the back anchor points. I did my Tacoma with short chunks of steel pipe and hardened stainless bolts from home Depot for about $10 the covers hide it pretty good so it don't really look like chit

For me the extra lift under my knees eased up tension on hamstrings and lower back. No need for spacers in my situation. Glad as well because my headroom doesn't change as I have a huge torso and neck/head

So what are the threaded holes for on the front of the seat jackers?

The seats in mine are not as comfy as those in my previous Infiniti, but they’re not too bad. I always use the same dial in process if settings allow.

Drop bottom cushion all the way down, both front and back.

Raise the bottom front until kinda sports car like.

    Adjust back angle.

    Start adding lumbar support.

    Fine tune from there.

Well I traded the 4Runner this morning for an Accord . The seat and the back pain it was causing me was disrupting my job performance so it had to go.

The seat was my only complain on my '18 SR5. The seats in the Premiums/Softex is a lot more comfortable IMO.

I installed Seat Jackers a few months ago. Front Jackers and a couple of spacers in the back. Huge, noticeable difference in seat position and comfort. Before install, I was continually adjusting the seat. I haven't touched the settings for sometime now, after I settled on the sweet spot. I'm 6'0 with a 32" inseam.
    Takes 10-15 min to install.

I believe you have nailed it lol. So basically the 4runner is comfortable in any of the seasonal variations my backside might be in. Winter does a number on me in terms of general body pain, so that might play a part in it.

Have I mentioned I hate winter? It just aint right.

I had an accord for 20 years. Such a good car. The seats were comfortable too. Not sure if they changed much regarding their design, but man, those seats were durable too. I’m a big guy and after 220ish thousand miles, the seats were as solid as they were the day I bought it. No flexing, no fabric tears, padding was perfect…I honestly wish I would have removed the seat to make an office chair out of it before I got rid of it.

Sucks the 4runner didnt work out for you…but if it’s literally getting in the way of life, then it’s an easy decision.

Sorry to read it did not work out for you and best of luck with the Accord.

I am would to curious to know what it fetched for trade in? With so many folks trying to get into a ‘22, no doubt it would have sold here instantly.

I’m in a similar boat , only have 1000 miles on it so may try to ride out this year. Maybe I should sell sooner so not to loose so much $ on it. I bought the damn thing to have a higher resale value but not after 2 fricking weeks !!! Will maybe get around what I paid but will loose the ttl $

In addition to the seat jackers I added a sheep skin strip (Covercraft) which adds an 1" +/- of soft support. So far this winter it's been great (and seat heater still works great), just took time to dial in the seat settings. I'm 6'2".
