I thought new 4Rs have a trial period where we can control certain things from the app like door unlock?

my Toyota app is only telling me info like tire pressure, odometer value etc.. I can’t unlock the vehicle from the app. Do I need to enable something?

I knew you couldn’t remote start lower trims, but you can’t even lock or unlock? That’s lame

 

Nope. The only thing the app is "good" for is to know tire pressure, gas level or odometer (big whoop). Only the Limited and TRD PRO trims get remote start and lock/unlock.

Dont even ask why the auto headlights arent coming on.... lol

I forget who coined the phrase, but it's said "If you're not paying for the product, then you ARE the product." Which means the data you allow Toyota to have about you and your vehicle...is being sold to advertisers.

 

The app integration is not a free service, guy.

Even if you don’t install the app, the car is still sending data to the cloud.

did you cut the wires in your new 4Rs, to prevent egress of data?

 

My dealer tried very hard to get me to download the app way before even taking delivery. Kind of wild of how hard they pushed it, now that I think about it.

 

If it's not a Pro or Limited, this is the full capability of the app so it is free. Congratulations, you have a lifetime trial.
It's been discussed many times every year since the introduction of the app for the 5th Gen.
Damn internet forums ... If only there was a way to find them.
