    Oooh look, another mod.....

Not only was this an option with cars with rear entertainment systems, but now.....it's changed to HDMI & USB-C. Coax (And RCA cabling) was for cars in the 90's and early 2000's.

You can program a longer time with the Carista app. It's not much longer -- I think like 6sec? -- but it is an improvement

Well, that means I can adjust it with Techstream too. Cool. Going to play around with it tomorrow.

The ass warmer dials and steering wheel warmer button are in bad spots, they seem like they were put there as an afterthought. Would've been better if they had put it by the HVAC controls.

I'm OK with the seat heater dials, but my view of the steering wheel heater button is blocked by the wheel itself, so I have to find it by feel. However, it's too close to the ignition button to do that with impunity. At least my neck still moves without too much effort, so I can see it if I need to.

yeah i find that placement to be unfortunate too. What happens with a single press of the start button, while driving?

My complaint is the seat adjustment. Being kinda tall(6'3) it would go down lower. Both drivers and passenger.

Seeing as it is a 20 year old vehicle that is still sold as new, I'm very OK with my '18. I actually really like the lack of tech stuff- the perfect 4R for me would be the same thing the offer now but with an 8 or 9 speed transmission. My one biggest gripe is how sensitive the 4R is to wheel balance and/or steering wheel vibrations.

I LOVE that it’s an old new vehicle. Newer vehicles are not at all the same, and I think it’s a good thing. It’s a mistake to compare it to newer vehicles.

my one gripe and it’s a seriously minor Karen level gripe - is the placement of cup holders is a bit awekward.

I did this the other day by accident. It triggers a warning light/beeps that last a few seconds and then goes away. A bit disconcerting but no harm done.

This was truly a horrible place to put the steering wheel heater button. Why not just put it on the steering wheel?!?!?!

Quick: which way turns on wipers permanently? up or down? I came from a Lexus and the steering wheel controls and stalks have similar configurations. Even then I could never remember where is off, intermittent or permanently on positions. Other gripes: weak blower, lukewarm heat, no auto liftgate(how much is one of those sensors? $1?), VGA camera quality(another dollar option). Oh, and they saved $5 on driver side grab handle, but then if you purportedly make the most iconic SUV, you could care less about what buyers want.

    Up is a single wipe.
Down takes you through INT, LO and HI in the lowest position.

The stalk should have some markings to confirm.

I love this set up tbh, better than the opposite. Hyundai/Kia does it like Toyota as well.

It’s bizarre to me hearing that the opposite scheme exists! I don’t believe I’ve ever encountered anything different except an older Toyota without the up/single wipe option.

Now headlight controls, I remember the variety in American makes.

Same. Now that it's gotten cold, before I turn on the heated steering wheel, I dip my head down to verify that I'm hitting the correct button. I'm worried that one day I'll be driving down the road, reach down to hit the heated steering wheel, and accidentally hit the start/stop button.

I like the rotary approach. You turn a knob on the stalk. There is no question where OFF is. You activate intermittent as you turn the knob. Go past one detent and you are ON.

Gotcha, if I’m understanding right that’s reserved for the rear wiper on Toyota’s and the mentioned makes!

Owners who feel the need to state the cost of the vehicle with their complaints as if paying $xx k for a vehicle is somehow bragging rights.
Owners who are over the top fanboys.

The one complaint I agree with is the exhaust smell with the rear window down. Nothing else bothers me to the point of annoying me.

If you start low with your finger and bring it up, it will stop at the "hood" at the top of the heat switch recess.

I've pressed the start button too many times.

A creaking noise coming from somewhere in the rear cabin. I bought the car brand new in May 2023 then 3-4 months into ownership, I started to hear creaking noise in the cabin once in a while. I haven't investigate thoroughly. I learn to live with it for now, and I still love my 4runner.

My largest gripe would be concern about longevity of the frame. Love everything else and old school. Just wish they somehow gave us all a better frame that did not require fluid film or whatever other product we choose. I’d rather pay more $$ to have the factory protect the frame better first.
