Hey there guys, I’ve got a 2006 4Runner that I just recently took out to the hills. The truck is lifted 2” with some 33s on it. We’ve gotten a lot of rain in NorCal so I decided I would hit some mud, and while doing so I smacked a bank while out there. Not much seemed wrong and my tire and wheel were just fine and there was no damage to either. It was a pretty light smack at maybe 5-10 mph. I’m just a little worried that something might be wrong as when the wheel is held straight on the car veers slightly left on the highway. The wheel itself doesn’t pull when let go but I’m still a little worried. What are some failure points that these trucks have before bending frames? I’ve looked all I could and have seen no damage but what is the chance I’ve tweaked my frame? Thanks guys!

Probably just knocked the alignment out of whack and need to get it aligned again. Not uncommon on these trucks and is also an issue with the 2nd gen + Tacomas, which share the same front suspension. I doubt there is any actual damage that you need to worry about.

The alignment cam bolts are round, and there's slop in the frame holes. The front cams are directly under the steering rack. Any little bump will throw off the toe. Get an alignment done and you're good, until the next trail run

Remember, mud kills your truck slowly, not right away.

Not unless you spend 12 hours cleaning out the frame and you replace all the things that break or wear out! Lol;)

As mentioned already, get the alignment checked and don't panic.

Also, be glad you have a Toyota. I have a friend with a Ranger and he bent a tie rod doing shit I do all the time. :D

He definitely seemed to have supreme confidence in his own skills, considering how it could have ended lol. Fully sent!

^You know what's worse than rolling your vehicle on its roof? Rolling your vehicle on its roof in a mud pit. All the mud rushing in at head level while you try to unbuckle your seatbelt.

Exactly, and only slightly worse is when the mud comes up to waist level, but your head is below your waist, and the doors don’t open because you’re in a mud bowl. No thanks…gives me goosebumps just thinking about it.
