Just picked up a low mile (44k) excellent condition 2022 SR5 Premium with (per the wifes request) a 5-year 100k bumper to bumper warranty. Was looking for months for a private party sale, but no offerings with less than 100k miles and all for more $. First import car I have ever owned in 50 years of driving a dozen different Fords and Jeeps. This should be the last car I buy. I hope so, because both new and used car prices and parts are... insane. Took a while to reconcile that that this is the new normal. I needed a new FOB, as the 4R only came with one. $425 with key and programming! I have bought good running cars for less than this... albeit during the Nixon administration... sigh.

Looked at several at different dealers, and the sales lady at this dealer was willing/able to work with me on this one. I started the conversation with "I am serious; please don't waste my time and I won't waste yours. I.do.not.care about or want to discuss nitrogen in the tires or another 3rd brake light or a tracker to return the car if it is stolen - that's why I have insurance...". And she didn't; it was refreshing... Two other local dealers took a different approach - "well, these features are already installed and we cannot reduce the price, yada yada..." and they lost the sale.

Although the "One Owner" sticker was a bit misleading - per the carfax it was a rental in Seattle! Sure, one owner... with 100 drivers! But the underside is totally rust free, it drove and stopped great (new rotors in front, and new pads F&R), all systems work perfect, no engine leaks, 4wd engages, perfect interior (except for some slightly worn carpet in the cargo area, prolly from luggage) and a clean bill of health when I took it to cross-town Toyota dealer for a full systems checkup. Only problem is that the driver (and passenger) door takes three times to unlock with the proximity FOB (???) - gotta fix this, it's irritating.

Took it on a 1200-mile shakedown trip from Tucson to LA and back last weekend; ran like a top the whole way, 75-85 mph. And while several reviews say the engine is...lethargic, shall we say... based upon my current 2008 60k mile V6 Trail Rated Jeep Liberty, it is a definitive step up in power and overall ride quality. And it's fun to drive as well!

    Happy New Year to all!
