Hello. my 2017 limited front suspension is leaking per my mechanic when I replaced the tires n took it for Allignment. I wanna keep it stock. After researching I’m worried now if I replace them with oem shocks again will there be any fluid left in xreas. My mechanic is old school told
Me purchase the coil springs and everything together and he’ll replace it but I doubt he understood that got thr system has hoses n all. I want to keep it as stock as possible unless there are other option close to same drive as original on limited. I don’t do off road highway n city driving. Thank you and apologies if this been mentioned

I’m dreading that day as well. I too have a limited and like the ride. I understand you have to replace them in their entirety as it’s a system and hear it’s very expensive to do. I would probably remove the xreas and install a high quality suspension system even if it was near the same cost as xreas replacement but only you can determine what’s best for you.

Replace with regular 4R shocks/struts (I get confused between the 2) and springs. They will have to drain the fluid.

    Keep on trucking.

Or fix the XREAS for a pretty penny.

I found them on eBay for $1200 or so from a Toyota dealership. Which seems like a pretty good price for all four. But not sure how much fluid has leaked out already to replace them. Car only has 50k miles

When I compare my bone stock 4Runners XREAS vs my $4000 ELKAs after 3in lift, stock XREAS a clear winner on pavement when it comes to absorbing potholes and what not.

On the flip side aftermarket suspension (especially the highend ones) may need service early, else would start leaking much early than XREAS.
