Has any 5 th gen runner owners purchased Michelin defenders LTX MS/2
Tires and if you did how do you feel about them when your driving in 2 WD
In the rain and snow also have you noticed a difference in gasoline consumption for the good or bad ?

Have the second set on my Tundra and thus will be my next set for the 4runner if/when they need replacing.

    Uh oh.
    Keep this in mind.
Michelin LTX M/S2 is not the same tire as the
    Michelin Defender LTX M/S2.
The Defender LTX M/S2 just came out.
The LTX M/S2 has been around for a while.
Don't know why Michelin does this.

But yeah OP. I'd like to know this myself. May be my next tire.

If you guys have BJ's Warehouse in your area and have a membership, check here... in my experience they usually have the best prices on Michelins. I've bought at least 10 sets of Defenders in the past 2 years, converting all of my personal vehicles over (8) and my driver ed cars (12). All from BJ's. Exceptional "everyday" tire.

Regarding fuel consumption, according to my excel sheet I keep on my other truck, my average mpg's dropped from 16.6mpg to 15.4mpg right after I got the Defenders. At around the 8,000 mile mark on the tires, mpg's started to increase slightly. Now the average is up to 15.9mpg. I now have around 30k on the tires. Hope this helps.

When I search for Michelin in size 265/70R17 with 3 peak mountain snow flake rating in Discount tire. Only MICHELIN AGILIS CROSSCLIMATE & MICHELIN X-ICE SNOW was listed. Crossclimate is only Load E and X-ice is available in standard load but a dedicated winter tire.

For the tire size I run 285/70R17 only MICHELIN AGILIS CROSSCLIMATE Load E is available.

Don't see any Defender LTX MS2 or LTX MS2 rated for winter conditions.

(No experience in Michelin, but I sometimes drive in 2wd when it's light snow and the road is warm making it just water. But I only use tires with 3PMSF rating)

I just bought the Defender LTX M/S, so not the M/S 2 so it does not necessarily apply with those different looking “shoulders” but I like them.

Economy seems as good as it gets and I haven’t had any surprises as far as 2WD in the wet.

If I were to do it over, I’d probably get the rebadged “X LT A/S” from Costco (or your wholesale club of choice) and get Discount Tire to install.

    No snow yet.

Agree 100%, and as advertised not bad in shallow snow either.
