What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

Yep! I had a Lunar Rock '23 coming in a few weeks after this was announced and decided to switch to Underground

 

Got an alignment done today since I’ll be on the road this weekend. Wasn’t off by much but it handles like a dream now. Hopefully my color matched heritage grille from Thrashed Off-Road will come in next week

 

Seat jackers--kinda nice if you're tall, but don't address the short (back to front) seat bottom.


Rad Rubber splash guards--thick but kinda wish the coverage was better. Best thing is whatever size clips it came with are much tighter than stock, zero rattles. My driver's side rear was not damaged, but I ripped it out as the squeaking clips were driving me nuts.

 

Installed some Greenlane running boards to replace the OEM's

 

God damn, look at that sweet ass color!!

 

Messed with my center caps again. After plasti dipping the silver trim rings I decided it looked better without them so I removed them (filled the little holes they left behind). Then I painted the Toyota symbols with rustoleum plastic paint.

 

Upgraded my first aid kit. Big one for back country and smaller one for highway trips.

Much better organized and easy to find what I need than old kit.

Victory4x4 upper/lower molle panels, upper shelf, and metal floor installed. It was a good Christmas also threw in those back seat protectors a few weeks back.



In addition to all the mounting options, this all helps make the back pretty dog proof for my 90lb lab. Next up is assembling/bolting down a stack of their 1 x 10” and 2 x 5” drawers on the driver side.

Btw Victory’s customer service is excellent. Received the wrong side tie down hook bracket for the passenger side and they immediately got back to me about shipping a replacement. In the meantime, to get these bolted up for our trip on the 1st, I impatiently couldn’t resist got the job done for now.



My RuffRugs order for the full cargo + hatch panel liner also wasn’t going to arrive in time for our trip. Luckily found a bunch of extra puzzle mats in my attic (from covid time sketchy garage BJJ training lol). This plus some thick blankets should temporarily do the trick containing the dog hiking mess for the week.



After getting the cabinets bolted in, I plan to have the RuffRugs liner cut/stitched by a local upholstery shop to fit around the cabinets.

Decided not to do a 20 inch light bar because I’m adding my diode Pro amber fogs lights eventually. So added the raptors lights in the place of the light bar. If the raptors lights fail and burn out then a bajadesigns light bar will go in.

 

Were the raptor lights difficult to install? I have a set NIB sitting at home, just haven't had the time to install them yet.

 

I swear my 2018 TRD OR did NOT have the hood insulation on it??? I just don't remember it being there when I cleaned the eng bay. Maybe I'm loosing it more then the Mrs. claims
1 of the reviews on the site where I bought mine from claimed that 1 didn't clip in correctly but he just let it go. I remember the 1's I installed on my 2018 4R that they are directional, i.e. yes they "will go in BUT if they don't snap in rotate 180" I tried it W/these that the reviewer commented on & yep they are designed to fit 1 way correctly.

 

Don, where'd you tap into pwr for them?

 

Easy. Took about hour because I’m anal. Lol.

 

The fuses inside under driver side. Add a fuse. Fourth one down ign. number 2. There on when the vehicle is on.

Sweet are you gonna get the cover that will accommodate the add on fuse & OEM cover? Or just leave it open like I did on my old 4R (bugged me not covered even though No big whoo) Jus anal like you too!

Leaving it like that. Don’t have much confidence in these to keep working. Lol. See where reviews some took them out because they kept burning out one or another.

 

Like said previously I picked Tail so when "parking lights" I guess they're now DRL's in the new vehicles . rotated switch on TS stock past "Auto" they're on then my Brite Box is when I push switch! or use OEM only when lo beams on.

 

Had to return my morimotos rear smoked tail lights. Issue with driver side fitting. Give them one more chance and it don’t fit the next one I will send them back for a refund,

 

Man that would suck!! The ones I bought ,I was very impressed W/ hermetically sealed connectors & complete harness. I guess time will tell ,eh?

 

Yeah especially there $600 lights. They should fit perfectly. Also I have the smoked reverse light up top from Yota to put in yet.

Ordered some new speakers from Crutchfield. Be after NYD when I get them. Which is cool. Give me something on my days off next week.
