Hello fellas! I am in the market for a 4Runner at the moment, however I’m more set on the TRD ORP just about solely because I want the black interior trim.

I am considering just getting an SR5P and going to the dealer to have all the silver switched out with black trims.

Has anyone done this yet? I’m not a fan of the overlays since I feel you can see them raised up across everything rather than sitting flush.

That would be a tall and expensive order.

I worried about that. How tall of an order you think?

The headunit is attached to the trim around it and that’s $4-5k. Everything else should be less than that

Well damn that writes off the whole idea. I was hoping maybe 1k to do all the trims or something like that.

Car Trim makes black covers for basically all the trim.

My only gripe with overlays was that the ones I saw would be raised up around buttons and whatever else and look bulky and you could tell something was on top of the trims. Do the car trim overlays sit flush close to OEM?

Yeah, it's something that would wink at you forever, IMO. Not worth it.

I haven't priced them recently, but not too long ago you could get a T9 head unit which arguably an upgrade, with the associated trim for ~$600.
the rest of the trim isn't terribly expensive.

You can just paint. Is the extra cost really worth some black trim?

The thing that bugged me the more then the silver was the fugly carbon fiber center console.

Me...I would LOVE to exchange all the disgusting black interior body panels changed out to the light-colored ones available on some of the non-Off Road models! These black panels show every bit of desert dust. My brother has a Lexus with a light-colored interior and although it is relatively the same interior dimensions it appears much roomier, much more open just due to the interior color.

I have a SR5P and i just took out and Plastidipped the trim to black. Much easier and less expensive. Especially if that's your only concern, not worth the 5-7k more for the orp.

I think it depends on the brand. Car Trim stuff is pretty thin. I only got their passenger side dash trim cover to go over the cracked factory piece.
